Dr. Michael Yousef gave some alarming statistics from a nationwide survey by demographic researcher George Barma:
Only 17% of self-described Christians have a Biblical worldview that believe:
1. The Bible is totally accurate in all of its principles.
2. A belief that we cannot earn our way to heaven through good works.
3. A belief that Jesus lead a sinless life on earth.
4. That Satan is a real being and not merely a symbol.
5. A belief that God is the all-knowing, all-powerful Creator and ruler of the world.
A recent article in the Christian Post said that ‘A large percentage of self-proclaimed
Christians do not believe the Holy Spirit is real.’
Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University, May 2022 shares:
In what researchers described as a “shocking find”, a new report indicated just over half
of US pastors (51%) have a biblical worldview. Just over a third of charismatic or
Pentecostal church pastors (37%) hold a biblical worldview. For mainline Protestant
churches, the figure is 32%. Nine percent of pastors leading traditionally black churches
had a biblical worldview, and 6% of Catholic priests.
When you consider Biblical faith is in decline, it’s no wonder that many evangelicals do not
believe that there is a plan and purpose for Israel and the Jewish people yet to be fulfilled
in the unfolding of God’s end time plan, or that sharing the gospel with Jewish and Muslim
people is very important.
SIX IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW
1. God is the Creator of the world and rules this universe. (Genesis 1:1)
2. The Bible is God’s Word for mankind and is completely accurate including matter of life and its origin. (2 Timothy 3:16)
3. Because of God and His Word, absolute moral truth exists. (Psalm 102:25-27)
4. Jusus the Messiah is the only begotten Son of God and He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the grave 3 days later. (1 John 4:9-10/1 Cor 15:3–4)
5. Satan is a real being and seeks to defeat God’s plan for man. (1 Peter 5:8)
6. Salvation is obtained solely by individual faith in Christ’s work on the cross and cannot
be earned. (Ephesians 2:8-9) (Source:ministry127.com)
I would like to pray into this:
- Pray for pastors and leaders, that they would have a love of the truth so that they will not believe any delusions.
2 John 7: “I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.”
- Pray for those under pastors that have erroneous teachings to be like the Bereans and search out the truth and to find it. May this Empower them to scripturally bring it up to their leaders, to change fellowships if necessary.
Acts 17:11 “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
- Pray against manipulation by pastors and against pastor worship and ungodly soul ties.
Psalm 119:66 “Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in Your commands.”
- Pray for those in seminaries, both teachers and students.
Psalm 119:43 “Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws.”
- Pray the brainwashing of evolution and any other ungodly principles taught in the schools, that are expressed constantly as fact on television and other media, be countered with scripture and faith. Pray for our teachers and parents.
- Psalm 119:9 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word.”
- Pray the fear of God would be taught in the church; for the church to have the fear of God
Psalm 119:120 “My flesh trembles in fear of You; I stand in awe of Your laws.”
- Pray for a Biblical moral compass to be restored. Many churches think it’s OK to live together without being married, okay to have homosexuals in leadership or to marry them, etc.
Judges 21:25 “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did which was right in his own eyes.”
- Pray for marriages for those self-described Christians. Pray for the marriages of the 17% too.
1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Love is not proud and does not demand its own way.
- Pray for the remnant. Pray for spiritual maturity and for them to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Last night the Lord said to me, “Why do you keep asking me to send the Holy Spirit? Have I not already sent it on the day of Shavuot when that appointed time was fulfilled? Look in the 2nd chapter of Acts. Was it not already sent on that day? How could I have told you to walk in the Spirit if I had not already sent it? But appropriate it in My righteousness and love.”
Galatians 5:16 “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the works of the flesh.”
- Pray some of the remnant would disciple many to truth and spiritual maturity.
1 Timothy 4:9-11 “This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, and for this we labor and strive, that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.”
- This lack of believing the Bible that the land of Canaan was given to the Israelites — sons of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob — is causing many in the church to stand against Israel and believe the lies of the “Palestinians”. We know what prophecy says but pray the real church would not succumb to these lies.
Psalm 105:8-11 “He remembers His covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, his oath He swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: ‘To you will I give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.’
- Pray against the spirit of anti-semitism, which is growing stronger as a result of this falling away.
- Pray the remnant church would be strong and stand up against this.
Psalm 119:112 “My heart is set on keeping Your decrees to the very end.”
Revelation 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
- Pray for safe houses to be established for the Jewish people, just as they now have them for believing Muslims.
Proverbs 27:12 “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.”
- Pray for a spirit of joy and gladness for the remnant.
Psalm 126:3 “The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.”
- Thank you, Adonai, Yeshua, that the Word of Elohim does not return void, but goes swifty throughout the earth.

Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped in February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.

Anita a Christian convert, facing a long prison term who escaped from Iran and praying to go to a country where she can express her faith openly.
Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran for his release and his family as their persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence.

Persecution Watch: Praying for Believers in Ethiopia
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Ethiopia: Population: 115.4 million, Christians 69.2 million
Over the past, Ethiopia has seen a dramatic increase in violence driven by civil and military conflicts, the worst of which can be found in the Tigray region. On March 10, 2021, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken testified before the US Congress about the “ethnic cleansing” occurring in Ethiopia, particularly in the Tigray region.
In early November, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced military operations against the region’s ruling party, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, which he accused of attacking a federal army base. Despite official denial, the Eritrean military, as well as forces from an adjoining region, Amhara, have been participating in the offensive and committing war crimes. According to witness reports, egregious human rights abuses, such as rapes and mass killings, are being perpetrated by the various actors involved in the conflict.
Despite this tolerant history, conditions have dramatically changed. Recently, the central government has failed to condemn violence against the church and seems unable or unwilling to effectively intervene. With varying ethnic and regional motivations for violence, “because the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has been a unifying force for centuries, it is becoming the first target and focus of aggression.” Additionally, civil war and ethnic targeting have resulted in more than 1.8 million people already displaced. Sadly, Ethiopia is no longer considered a safe haven for the oppressed.
Today, fifty-nine percent of Ethiopians are Christian (42 percent Orthodox and 27 percent evangelical). Islam now accounts for nearly forty percent of the population and is growing. The rise of Islamic extremist’s accounts for much of the violent persecution in Ethiopia. Typically, persecution varies depending upon where one lives. In the eastern and southeastern regions, converts from Islam to Christianity are harassed, denied access to community services, ostracized, and discriminated against. In the past few years there have been an increasing number of incidents in which churches were burned, homes destroyed, and Christians killed.
While the Orthodox Church is a target for Islamic attacks, it is also a perpetrator of persecution as well. “Because of the government’s special relationship with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, other denominations— especially evangelicals and Pentecostal Protestants—are persecuted by the state and by the Orthodox Church. Christians who switch denominations and leave the Orthodox Church are subject to family and community pressure and can face significant mistreatment. Additionally, churches can be restricted from holding religious gatherings.”
One Ethiopian pastor summarized the situation, “In the middle of the poverty, the tribal tension taking place, the religious tension that’s taking place, [pray] that God’s Church. . . would not back down, that they would continue to be strong, but they would also have wisdom.” So we pray for Ethiopia Christians—for protection, strength, wisdom, and provision.
Prayer Points
- Pray to the Lord that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed aggressively control the radical and malignant Muslims radicals.
- Pray for wisdom and provision for the government as they lead a country greatly affected by war, drought, plagues, and political instability.
- Pray that Christians facing intense pressure to renounce their faith will have the strength to hold onto Jesus and trust Him for their futures.
- Pray that the Lord will protect pastors and evangelists who serve in a hostile environment and that they may see His power breaking through.
- Ask God to bless the ministry among women and youth—ask God to raise up more women and young people to strengthen the church.
- Pray to the Lord to remind the Coptic Church that they and the Evangelical Church serve You, the almighty God, and that therefore no room for discord or conflict.
- Pray for the Lord to protect Christians from violence and killing, especially in the Tigray region.
- Pray for special protection for Christian girls and women from Muslim radical violence and rape.
- Pray that Christians will be given wisdom and boldness and protection as they go out to bring the good news to the lost.
- Pray to the Lord for the NGOs who minister to the persecuted Christians with spiritual and physical aid.
- Pray that Christians have good internet coverage. Pray for the webmasters that the Lord will give them encouraging messages for the persecuted Christians and also attract Muslim seekers
- Pray to the Lord that He will appear to many in their dreams – and then that they will be connected to believers who can equip them.
- Pray for rain to cover the arid ground
- Pray that persecuted believers will not become bitter and be able to love and forgive.
- Pray to the Lord to strengthen His Church, to raise up His church to be the light on the Hill and shine our Christian values over the land.

Praying for Believers and the Harvest in Kenya
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Dear Prayer Warriors, the Psalmist could say with great firmness ‘I lift my eyes to heaven and where will my help come from?’ And he responds to himself and says: My help comes from the Lord who created the heavens and the Earth, Hallelujah Glory to God. So, we should have a faith that gives answers to all our prayers, to have the certainty that God will protect you from all evil. Because our God is a God of love an exalted God, a God who takes care of us and our families, our dear brothers a dear in Christ.
Psalm 121
“1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.”
We can lift our eyes to the mountains and say my help comes from the Lord who created the heavens and the earth. Who is the God who did this? Only the God of Abraham of Isaac and Jacob. He will take care of us; He sees everything that we do and whatever problems or need we have. We can bring it all to the foot of the Cross. It is there that we will find our peace and resolution to every need and problem. Not only will He take care of us through it all here on earth but, He will also take care of us through Eternal life. Glory to God!

Praying through the Word for the Persecuted
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
It seems that almost anywhere I read in the Bible, I see prayer points for the persecuted and oppressed.
Daily reading at least one Psalm, one I rarely hear quoted, Psalm 109 though verse 8, is quoted in Acts 1:20. I also read in Jeremiah and Corinthians. Let us pray through these Scriptures.
Prayer Points
Psalm 109:1-2 “O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues.”
- Pray the church would stand up against these lies and not be deceived.
Psalm 109:8 “May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.”
- Pray wicked leaders would be replaced by more compassionate and Godly leaders.
Psalm 109:22 “For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.”
- Pray for healing of wounds: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Psalm 109:28-29 “They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice. My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as a cloak.”
- Pray for a spirit of joy and rejoicing; thanksgiving that an undeserved curse does not come to rest. (Proverbs 26:2)
- Pray those who attack will be put to shame (not to be shamed is very important in most cultures, hence honor killings). Pray this shame will cause them to consider their ways and bring them to salvation.
Psalm 109:31 “For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.”
- Pray for protection; release angelic hosts.
Jeremiah 15:15 “You understand, O Lord; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors.”
- Pray the persecuted would have a greater understanding of God’s love and care for them.
- Pray they would not seek revenge on their persecutors but give it to God and let God avenge them.
Jeremiah 15:16 “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight. For I bear Your Name, O LORD God Almighty.”
- Pray for access to the Word; for the Word to get deep inside their spirits; would delight in it.
Jeremiah 15:19 “If you utter worthy, not worthless words, you will be my spokesman.”
- Much is said in the Bible about what we speak, for life and death is in the power of the tongue. Pray our words would be in line with God’s Word and will, for deliverance from idle words.
- Pray we would be spokesmen for Yeshua, to bring many to salvation, to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead as per direction of the Holy Spirit, hearing clearly.
Jeremiah 15:21 “I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the cruel.”
- Pray for those in prison or other captivity; for Adonai to ransom them and cause them to escape; for endurance.
1 Corinthians 10:21 “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.”
- Pray against compromise in the church; of integrating other theologies and tribal customs with the Word.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
- Pray to be able to keep focus on the eternal, to walk in the Holy Spirit.

Persecution Watch: Praying for Cuba

CUBA: Population 11.4 million, Christians 7.1 million
Since 1959, Cuba has been governed by the Communist Party, which seeks to control the church according to its Communist ideology. The government reacts harshly against opposition voices and demonstrators. When church leaders or Christian activists criticize the regime, they face arrest, closure of their churches or businesses, prison sentences, and harassment by the government. New churches are often denied registration, as the authorities want to control and limit the church’s influence. The government controls all media and restricts access from the outside world, so it is very hard for Christians to communicate widely in the country.
David Curry, the CEO of Open Doors, explained to Breitbart News in an interview last week what have you in Cuba is a communist regime who is trying to diminish the ability of the church to speak out.”
Cuba, is officially an atheist state. In Cuba state-affiliated thugs have for years terrorized Christian leaders who support pro-democracy dissidents, in some occasions assaulting Catholic clergy mid-Mass.
“Cuba has jumped up now to number 37 on the WWL (# 51 in 2021) and while it’s not a huge country, they are beginning to get very serious about controlling the church,” Curry explained. “Christians for some years had some degree of freedom there and they dropped off our top 50, but now they’re back.”
Curry noted that Christian leaders in Cuba had found some “alignment” with the pro-democracy movement of the island. While true for decades – the Christian Liberation Movement (MCL) has been at the forefront of the push for freedom since the 1990s – the Cuban Communist Party’s courtship of the Vatican had for years added at least a veneer of tolerance towards Christians to the repressive Castro regime.
“What you see is that there’s some sense of alignment between pastors and priests around individual freedoms and things which would challenge the ideology of the communist regime of Cuba,” Curry explained. “They would like to see them sort of stay out of these discussions and let the government do what they want. I think all of these dictators have a similar belief around that.”
“So, they’re beginning to say ‘Look, if you’re going to speak out against the cruelties of the government, we are going to crack down on you and make it difficult for you to get registered officially,’” Curry continued, “and those that are registered of course they have to toe the line. So that’s the game, a very dangerous game that’s being played in Cuba against the pastors and priests of that area.”
New churches are often denied registration, as the authorities want to control and limit the church’s influence. The government controls all media and restricts access from the outside world, so it is very hard for Christians to communicate widely in the country. The continued rise is the result of highly restrictive measures against churches deemed to be opponents of the regime – especially non-registered Protestant churches. The Covid-19 crisis has been used as a pretext to hinder church and community activities, monitor church leaders, make arbitrary arrests, confiscate private property and impose extortion fees. Christian leaders from different denominations were among those arrested during anti-government demonstrations in July.
National service is compulsory for men. If it’s discovered that they are active Christians or have Christian parents, they often face persecution if their commanding officer is prejudiced against believers.
Pastors – the majority of whom are men – come under particularly close scrutiny from Cuba’s Communist regime. They face beatings, arrests, confiscation of Christian literature, destruction of property and death threats. Children of activists or pastors are also vulnerable and may face mistreatment from their teachers and peers. An Open Doors source says: “Christian men and boys in Cuba are beaten adults physically; children in the soul.”
Prayer Points
- Pray for President Miguel Díaz-Canel, (since Apr 19, 2018; re-elected on Oct 10, 2019) and party leader Raul Castro that God will touch them in a special way to recognize religious freedom.
- Ask God to confuse and distract the local authorities and to misconstrue the government actions against Christians.
- Pray for the protection of Christians that have been denied registration of their church and are. therefore, subject to much government interference
- Pray for the Christians men who must serve their term in the army, that the Lord will have His hand of protection on them as
- Pray to the Lord for resilience and wisdom for church leaders.
- Pray that Congregations are not hindered to worship, despite the oppressive restrictions.
- Pray for many Christian outreach teams to come to Cuba to encourage and minister to the saints.
- Pray for the children of church leaders whose faith and names make them very vulnerable to persecution.
- Pray for the government to be unable to use COVID19 as a pretext to make arbitrary arrests and or confiscate private property as well as impose excessive penalty fees.
- Pray that Christians will be given wisdom and boldness and protection as they go out to bring the good news to the lost.
- Pray for NGOs to be able to continue to be active to serve the churches in Cuba
- Pray that Christians have good internet coverage where they live and that the messages will edify them as well as touch unbelievers who surf the net.
- Pray that persecuted believers will not become bitter and be able to love and forgive.
- Pray to the Lord that in spite of the hostile climate more Cubans will turn to the Lord, that His church will grow because of the governments designs to control and restrict their lives.

Let Us Pray: Reports of Christians Persecuted
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
According to Open Doors, dozens of North Koreans were arrested and shot at a worship service, then their families were rounded up and jailed.
- Pray comfort for grieving families.
- Pray for endurance for believers who were captured.
- Pray for salvation for unbelievers who were captured and for those who arrested them.
- Pray the Lord would bring down or replace this wicked regime according to His will.
- Pray for protection for believers in North Korea.
Two people have a safe house ministry in China for North Koreans who cross the border. They are struggling with health issues and arrest.
When a Laotian woman came to faith, she burned the idols in her home. Villagers destroyed her home, drove her away, and beat other Christians.
- Pray for displaced believers; pray for hope and faith.
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him; so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
In Mozambique, two pastors were displaced and now have a ministry to other refugees fleeing violence.
- Pray for renewed health for the pastors running the safe house ministry in China.
- Pray for provision, protection, discernment, endurance, wisdom and compassion for those ministers.
- Pray for many salvations from their ministry; for growth and comfort for Christians who fled.
In India, Pastor Shankar was murdered, and 26 other pastors were attacked.
- Pray for grieving families, for Godly courage and wisdom among the leadership and congregations.
Someone put acid in Leebee’s (an East Asian Christian) drink, and the Lord healed and sustained her. Though persecuted, she gained the trust of those who used to persecute her.
- Pray for many supernatural healings to encourage and sustain the Christians; pray for many salvations because of people seeing God’s goodness and power to those who love Him.
In Vietnam, believers returned a blessing for evil when they built toilet facilities at the homes of their former persecutors.
- Pray that the seed of this sacrifice would bring many salvations; pray unbelievers would see that Christians build up and help society.
Pastor Kajo was attacked by Muslims during a church service; but he was the one sent to prison for “disturbing the peace”.
- Pray for justice for him and others.
Proverbs 18:5 “It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice.”
Anyone selling Bible in Khazakstan can be fined the equivalent of three weeks wages. Churches must also register and be monitored.
- Pray for God’s Word to go swiftly throughout Khazakstan and the earth.
Psalm 147:15 “He sends His command to the earth; His Word runs swiftly.”

What is Persecution Watch?
Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God and he will be greatly missed. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.
Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2013 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.
“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.
On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the conference call to share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.
Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.
We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. Persecution Watch: Praying for Believers in Uzbekistan
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
UZBEKISTAN: Population 33.6 million, Christians 347,000
Though all Christians experience some level of persecution in Uzbekistan, Protestants are often the victims of the greatest pressure. Christians who are a part of these non-registered churches may be viewed as “extremists,” and the government believes church members are spies trying to destroy the government. Therefore, Christians and their churches may be monitored, and unregistered churches may be the victims of police raids, arrests, and fines. Additionally, Uzbekistan is largely Muslim, so any Christian who converted from Islam faces increased pressure from their family and community. Christians in these situations may be locked up, beaten, or expelled from their communities. Many converts from Islam are forced to hide their faith.
Meet “Adam,” who attends a church that tried to register with the Uzbek government. “The police asked us why we became Christians and demanded we renounce our faith. This had never happened before, even when we were fined in previous years. This happened because we asked for registration.”
This year, persecution continued to be significant against Christians in Uzbekistan. A new criminal code was drafted in 2021, which continues to penalize the distribution of religious literature, meeting for worship without government permission and “talking about faith.” The previous laws about religious activity were often criticized for being vague, but this update gives way to even greater persecution. Protestant churches continue to be targeted by authorities, and Christians who converted from Islam are still persecuted by both government and community.
The level of persecution by government officials in Uzbekistan is the same all over the country, particularly on Christians who don’t belong to a registered church, as well as Christians suspected of evangelizing. For Christians who converted from Islam, the pressure is strongest outside of urban areas, especially in the Fergana Valley in the east.
A new law that became effective last year penalizes:
- Illegal to produce, store or import unauthorized religious material
- Distribution of religious literature
- Meeting for worship without Government permission
- Talking about faith
Prayer Points
- Pray that God will touch President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a special way and that he gets to know Him
- Ask God to touch the authorities to revise the new religious laws and to open up freedom for all religions.
- Pray for the protection of Christians that are part of non – registered churches and are viewed by the government as extremists and spies to destroy the government.
- Pray for MBB that the Lord will protect them, that they grow in faith and experience the peace of God.
- Pray for the Christians who are discriminated their community and others because of their faith
- Pray to the Lord for Christians who lose their jobs because of their faith.
- Pray for the Christians who live in an intense hostile area and therefore have to keep their faith a secret.
- Pray for pastors and elders who do covert ministry to minister to believers.
- Pray for NGOs to encourage and strengthen believers through spiritual and physical support.
- Pray that Christians will be given wisdom and boldness and protection as they go out to bring the good news to the lost.
- Pray that Christians have good access to the internet and that the messages will minister to them as well speak to unbelievers who surf the net.
- Pray to the Lord that He will reveal Himself to Muslims in their dreams and
- Pray that Christians have good internet coverage where they live and that the messages will edify them as well as touch unbelievers who surf the net.
- Pray that persecuted believers will not become bitter and be able to love and forgive.
- Pray to the Lord that He will grow and expand His churches in Uzbekistan in spite of their struggle with oppression and persecution.
We are continuing to lift up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:
Leah Sharibu prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.
Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped in February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.
Pastor Wang Yi to be released from Chinese prison.
Anita a Christian convert, facing a long prison term who escaped from Iran and praying to go to a country where she can express her faith openly.
Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran for his release and his family as their persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence.
