CALL-IN PRAYER EVENT FOR LEAH SHARIBU Oct. 26, 2019

(Voice of the Persecuted) Leah Sharibu was taken captive on February 19, 2018 by the Islamist militia, Boko Haram. October 26th marks twenty months of Leah’s captivity and concerned citizens will gather in Washington DC, and across the globe, to pray for her safe release and call on governments to act on Leah’s behalf. To give all an opportunity to pray, Persecution Watch has scheduled a call-in event for those unable to attend a physical location. See details below

The Nigerian government was able to negotiate the release of her 104 classmates but because Leah refused to convert to Islam, she remains in captivity and the government has been less than forthcoming about securing her release. Although Nigerian leaders have made occasional pronouncements and assurances throughout her captivity, Leah remains a hostage and her family continues to wait and pray for her release. After false hope and unmet expectations, it is unknown what this Christian girl is having to endure solely for her Christian beliefs. Leah is not alone in her plight. Christians around the world are persecuted daily for their faith, facing threats of beating and death, and are often forced to flee their homes for fear of retribution.

Nadia Dybvik, Persecution Watch team moderator, who will be leading the call-in event shared,

Nadia Dybvik of Persecution Watch Photo: Voice of the Persecuted

“As a young girl in Italy, I was very shy, didn’t have many friends and often felt lonely and depressed. I remember looking up to the vast and beautiful sky dreaming that somewhere over the clouds was a mighty God in a mighty big mansion. I hoped for Him to look down and take me up with Him. I imagined it was a place of peace flowing with love. I wanted to go there and to be with this mighty God. That was so many years ago and I realize now that l genuinely didn’t know our mighty and loving God back then.

I am no longer that lonely, depressed, shy little girl. 36 years ago, I gave my life to Him and finally became a child of God. He has come into my heart and forgiven me for all the wrongs I have done.

“For God so loved the World that He gave HIs only son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

As I look at the picture of this young girl named Leah, my memory brings me back in time when I was her age and my heart cries. If I had known Him then would I stand firm or would I deny Him so that my life would be spared? I hear His Word, “If you deny me, I will deny you”

Oh, what a faith to have at such a young age. Leah knows the Lord as her Savior, and when she looks up in sky, she knows for sure the true Living God. What a mighty work the Lord is doing through this young girl, what a testimony to all. I’ve never met her but love her so dearly. She loves Jesus this I know. I pray that I too will demonstrate my faith in Christ as firmly under all circumstances.

After her kidnapping, at only 14 years old, she wrote a note to her family.

“I know it is not easy missing me…I am confident that one day I shall see your face, if not here then there at the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

As I read Leah’s note to her mom, I hear Him whispering a very familiar verse to me,

“Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering” Hebrews 13:3.

How can I not obey? I will remember and I will Pray! I’m asking, “Will you also pray for Leah and the many brothers and sisters in this world suffering for their faith in Christ?” I personally invite you to join the call-in event.

Thank you for standing with Leah and the persecuted church. I look forward to meeting and praying with you on the call!”

Persecution Ministries schedule 12-Hour Prayer Conference Call for IDOP 2019

Voice of the Persecuted, in partnership with Persecution Watch, will host an open 12 hour prayer conference call to mobilize Christians to unite in prayer for those suffering for their faith in Christ during the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP2019 Persecuted but not abandoned). The call begins at 9 a.m. Eastern and will continue throughout the day until 9 p.m on Sunday, Nov. 3rd. The call is open to all with a desire to pray for those facing extreme hardships for their faith in Christ. Callers are not required to remain on the call for the full twelve offers, but encouraged to sacrifice some time to join the call and band together in prayer.

Godfrey Yogarajah, Executive Director of WEA RLC states,

“Millions of Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith daily. From Pakistan to Kazakhstan, Nigeria to North Korea, Christians routinely face discrimination, harassment, violence and even death for their faith in Jesus. Their suffering is unimaginable.

The Bible in Hebrews 13:3 command Christians to pray for those suffering as if they themselves were suffering. In other words, the Bible calls us to not only remember those who suffer but also to identify with them in their suffering. In keeping with this scriptural command, the International Days of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) has united millions of Christians in prayer for the suffering Body of Christ around the world. After all, as the Bible says: If one suffers, we all suffer.

Over the years, the IDOP has served as a platform to highlight the stories of persecuted Christians and mobilise the global Church to respond to their plight. Moreover, in so doing, the IDOP has also been a source of solidarity and encouragement to persecuted Christians by reminding them that they are part of a larger, global family of believers.

We believe that God uses the prayers of his people to strengthen and deliver suffering saints. However, in order to pray for these suffering brothers and sisters, we must first listen to their stories. In other words, we must hear their cry.

We invite you, therefore, to join us this year on 3rd and 10th November as we unite globally to pray for the persecuted. Let’s pray that in spite of the pressure and persecution, our suffering brothers and sisters –where ever they may be in the world — would stand firm in their faith, hold fast to the promises of God, and live victoriously in Christ.”

Blaine Scogin, Founder of Persecution Watch and Prayer Director of Voice of the Persecuted shared,

“Brothers and Sisters, in this final hour of redemptive history, we see the forces of Satan marshaling against the followers of Jesus. Persecution continues to increase in a frequency which has not been seen previously in history. Satan has declared an all out war on the followers of Jesus and if possible seeks to destroy them.

But God has given to us powerful weapons that are not of this world. We recognize those weapons as the word of God and prayer. Imagine the power of using His word as we pray. Through the Holy Spirit, we can pray powerful prayers to uphold our persecuted family.

God has placed us in the freedom of America. We are able to cry out for those who cannot cry out for themselves. The persecuted in the shadow of the cross pray of course, but they also have a heartfelt plea, Please pray that we will ‘endure’ the persecutions and that God will deliver us ‘through’ the persecutions.”

Sunday, November 3rd, is designated the first of two days IDOP2019 will be observed this month. Believers around the world will be lifting up our persecuted family and we want to join with them lifting our prayers also on behalf of those suffering.”

May God’s grace be with you.

Please share this invitation with your church, prayer warriors and through your social media contacts.

The Lord hears the cries of the righteous who are afflicted. He intercedes for them. Will we hear the cries of our persecuted family? It’s time for us to intercede in prayer for them.

Ministries to Host Prayer Conference Call Events for IDOP 2018

SPECIAL EVENT: (Voice of the Persecuted) Millions of Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith daily.

The IDOP has also been a source of solidarity and encouragement to persecuted Christians by reminding them that they are part of a larger, global family of believers. This prayer event also encourages the global Church to hear their cry and respond to their plight.

From those who cry out to him in the death camps of North Korea to those imprisoned in the shipping containers of Eritrea, surely the Lord hears the cry of our persecuted brothers and sisters, the word of God declares it.
.
Try to imagine hearing a bride crying out to her husband in the midst of persecutions and sufferings. What godly husband would not be moved to compassion seeing his wife lying in the hospital bed? Moved even tears by the cries of her sufferings for her beloved to be with her as she goes through a trial of illness. Would this dear man of God not cry out to God on his knees for his wife in tearful prayer to be delivered through the suffering she is enduring. If a godly husband would do this for the wife that he loved so dearly, how much more would Jesus cry out to God for his bride enduring the sufferings of persecution? Paul tells us in Romans 8:34 that Jesus is interceding for us, which includes his persecuted bride.
.
Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.
.
The great Bridegroom himself, cries out and pleads to the father for those undergoing suffering, persecution and affliction. For sure God the Father hears the cries of his Son sitting at his right hand.
.
But brothers and sisters do we hear their cries? Jesus is interceding for his persecuted bride. Will you hear his plea to join in intercession with him and cry out for our persecuted brothers and sisters?
.
This coming November, the first two Sundays have been set aside and designated as the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, commonly known as the IDOP. On Sunday, November 4th and Sunday, November 11th believers all over the globe will be interceding for our persecuted family.
.
Voice of the Persecuted and Persecution Watch will partner to host a 7-hour prayer conference call on both Sundays to join in this global intercession event. The call is open to all who desire to pray and intercede for the persecuted bride of Christ
.
The Lord hears the cries of the righteous who are afflicted. He intercedes for them. Will we hear the cries of our persecuted family? It’s time for us to intercede in prayer for them. Join us!

Ministries host open prayer conference call for Andrew Brunson

(Voice of the Persecuted) For years, relations between the U.S. and Turkey have been deteriorating and, among other issues, critically affected by the detention of an American pastor, Andrew Brunson. Andrew has lived in Turkey for 23 years and is a pastor for the Izmir Diriliş (Resurrection) Church, a small evangelical Presbyterian congregation in the city of Izmir. He’s been unjustly detained since October 7, 2016 on charges of espionage and links to terror organizations which he firmly denies. Many believe Brunson is nothing but a political pawn in Turkey’s quest to force the U.S. to extradite Fethullah Gülen, who is considered an enemy of the Turkish government and living in self-exile in Pennsylvania for years.

During the first 18 months before his first trial hearing Andrew lost 50 lbs. and suffered extreme depression. Pastor Brunson’s first court trial hearing was on April 16, 2018, the second hearing took place on May 7; a third hearing on July 18. His fourth hearing is scheduled for October 12, 2018. The 50 year old pastor is facing a 35-year prison sentence if convicted by the Turkish court.

Through U.S. pressure, many hoped that Andrew would be released at the previous hearing on 18 July, but the judge ordered Andrew stay in detention. Reports claim that following an international outcry, the court ruled on July 25 that Andrew could be released from prison and be kept under house arrest due to health concerns.

Pastor Andrew Brunson released from Turkish prison and put under house arrest

On October 2, Ismail Cem Halavurt, Andrew’s lawyer, took Andrew’s case to the Constitutional Court hoping the claims against Andrew will be rejected and Andrew released from house arrest.

Turkish Christians and friends of Andrew Brunson are requesting prayer for the upcoming hearing.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, our brother is now entering his third year in prison in Turkey for his faith in Jesus. Please let us…….
.
••• Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. 2 Tmothy 2:8-9•••
.
•••  Remember his imprisonment. I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my imprisonment. Grace be with you. Colossians 4:18 •••
.
••• Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourself were suffering bodily. •••
Hebrews 13:3
.
Brothers and sisters let us unite in prayer and remember Andrew Brunson as his trial comes up this coming Friday October 12th. We invite you to join us during a special prayer conference call this coming Thursday, October 11th for our brother who is bound for the gospel of Jesus. Let us pray for the gospel to go forth in Turkey and the surrounding nations and as a result of Andrew’s imprisonment. We will also remember the persecuted church in Turkey and around the world in our prayers. We believe prayers are heard and answered. Stay on the call 7 minutes, 7 hours, or as long as you feel led. Your prayers make a huge difference in the lives of our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Lord willing, I look forward to praying with you on the 7 hour call.

Details for the call are below. Please, join us and let us remember all those who are in the shadow of the cross.

Your brother in Christ,

Blaine Scogin

Christians praying for Muslims to come to Christ

(Voice of the Persecuted) A few years ago, I saw a picture of folded hands in prayer with a caption below that read, …by the power of God; through weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, 2 Corithians 6:7

I thought the artist vividly captured the message of 2nd Corinthians 6:7. For surely prayer is our most powerful weapon wielded with the word in advancing kingdom purposes of Christ.  James reminds us,

…The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect, James 5:6

It is said that the two things which endures for eternity are the word of God and the souls of men.

Tomorrow, Muslims, worldwide, will be celebrating Ramadan. It’s observed as a month of fasting from dawn until sunset to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which are considered mandatory for Muslim believers and the foundation of Muslim life. This year, Ramadan will begin on May 15th and continue to June 14th. For 31 days Muslims will be seeking a spiritual experience with the god of Islam. What they don’t realize is whom they are seeking is the true and living God found in the Bible.

During this time, many thousands of Christians, Jesus followers, around the world will be crying out for their salvation. For Muslims to have an encounter with the true and living Christ. Indeed testimonies verify that Muslims do find Christ in the midst of Ramadan and become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Messiah.  John 3:16-18

Praying for 1.8 billion Muslims to experience the love of Christ

SIMPLE PLAN TO PROFOUNDLY IMPACT THE MUSLIM WORLD

We are bombarded almost daily with news of barbaric acts of terrorism. But if all we know about Islam is what we see on the news, we are missing an incredible story:

The greatest turning of Muslims to Christ in history is happening NOW.

Everywhere Islam exists people are being drawn to Jesus Christ.

This is happening in direct correlation to increased movements of prayer.

God is MOVING and He’s inviting YOU to join Him.

Now is the time to PRAY because Jesus loves and died to save every one of the 1.8 billion Muslims in the world today. Each week will focus on a different region, loving and lifting up representative nations in prayer.

Our prayers do have an impact on the things of eternity and the souls of men and women to find truth in him who is the Living Word. Please join me through this Night Watch to lift your prayers up with mine. That we cry out for the salvation of Muslim souls in darkness and find the light of Jesus. see call information and details below

We will use the Prayercast guide and prayer points for our nightly prayer watch. I am recommending that all who wish to participate on the call to sign up for the Prayercast Ramadan Challenge here. You will receive daily reminders each day through Ramadan. We will convene that evening and pray through the prayer points. We will also continue to intercede for the persecuted church.  As many in the persecuted church are experiencing great hardships in Islamic nation. Many of them are those who’ve converted from Islam to Christ.

As ever, I remain your brother and prayer partner in our Lord Jesus. Meet you on the call!

Brother Blaine

If you are unable to participate on the call, or cannot join us on a particular evening, you can still use the prayer points and pray in your personal prayer closet. The only thing I would urge you is, please do it.  Whether you pray privately, in a group, or on our call, please pray for a great harvest of souls during this time of Ramadan.

Blaine Scogin serves as Prayer Director for Persecution Watch and Voice of the Persecuted.

Persecution Watch is a national prayer conference call to pray specifically for the persecuted Church. For the past 8 years, Blaine has faithfully led this national network of believers praying for the persecuted Church and the global harvest. The group normally meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night at 9pm EST. However, dedicated in their prayers for our persecuted brothers and sisters and the lost, there have been times when these prayer warriors have met every night for a month or more—lifting them up as the Lord leads. The call often host callers from nations other than the United States.
