Praying for Believers and the Harvest in Kenya

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

Dear Prayer Warriors, the Psalmist could say with great firmness ‘I lift my eyes to heaven and where will my help come from?’ And he responds to himself and says: My help comes from the Lord who created the heavens and the Earth, Hallelujah Glory to God. So, we should have a faith that gives answers to all our prayers, to have the certainty that God will protect you from all evil. Because our God is a God of love an exalted God, a God who takes care of us and our families, our dear brothers a dear in Christ.

Psalm 121

“1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;

8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.”

We can lift our eyes to the mountains and say my help comes from the Lord who created the heavens and the earth. Who is the God who did this? Only the God of Abraham of Isaac and Jacob. He will take care of us; He sees everything that we do and whatever problems or need we have. We can bring it all to the foot of the Cross. It is there that we will find our peace and resolution to every need and problem. Not only will He take care of us through it all here on earth but, He will also take care of us through Eternal life. Glory to God!

Tonight, I welcome you to pray with me for the harvest, provision and needs of believers and those missioning to the lost in Kenyan.

We will also lift-up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

Leah Sharibu prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.

Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped in February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.

Pastor Wang Yi to be released from Chinese prison.

Anita a Christian convert, facing a long prison term who escaped from Iran and praying to go to a country where she can express her faith openly.

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran for his release and his family as their persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence.

The Harvest

“I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:18)

What is Persecution Watch?

Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God and he will be greatly missed. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.

Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2013 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.

“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the conference call to share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.

We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. (Voice of the Persecuted) Dear Prayer Warriors, Persecution Watch and Voice of the Persecuted would like to thank all of you who participated and joined us on the 12 hour IDOP Prayer Conference Call Event on Sunday. What an amazing day of prayer it was. So powerful!

We were very blessed to have as our special guest, Faith McDonnell, Mariam Ibraheem, Dr. Pat, and Pastor Hanna to share on the call, answer questions and pray with us. May the Lord continue to bless their service for His Kingdom purposes.

There was a deep connection between us as we felt like a family in the Body of Christ. We were in agreement and encouraged one another as we prayed for the Persecuted Church. God’s love was with us as we lifted and shared our love for our persecuted brothers and sisters. HE was certainly at work as the Holy Spirit led us in prayer. What a reward He gives to us with His presence.

We are so thankful for all of you who served and joined us.

“Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” Psalm 141:2

Leah Sharibu and Alice that they will be set free from Boko Haram captivity.

  • Leah Sharibu was kidnapped along with 109 other students on February 19, 2018 when Boko Haram attacked a boarding school in the city of Dapchi, Maiduguri Diocese, in north-eastern Nigeria. A month later, some of the girls died in captivity and all the others were released, except Leah. She was the only Christian in the group.
  • Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped during the Rann attack on March 1, 2018. She was a nurse working with Unicef and is a mother of two.
  • Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison, for his family, the children, and the church in China. Pastor Wang Yi who is currently serving his prison sentence.
  • Anita an Iranian Christian, persecuted by the Islamic regime seeking asylum.
  • Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, for his release and his family as their persecution continues. At present he is serving his six-year sentence. 
  • The Harvest.

A Thanksgiving Message

(Voice of the Persecuted) Dear Prayer Warriors, every day is a day to be thankful for. All praise to the Great I Am, the King of all Kings. our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our Merciful and loving Father.

On this Thanksgiving Day, I want you to know that I am so thankful for all of you, for the love you have for the Persecuted Church and for the Harvest. You have all been so faithful in serving united in the Spirit. I’ve been so blessed to pray with all of you.

We have grown united in our obedience to the call that the Lord has given to us. I’m so encouraged during our powerful prayer time together. I love you all so dearly and I am so grateful for you.

Thank you, my dear ones. God bless you all.

Tonight, we will not be hosting a prayer conference call. I encourage you to continue to keep our dear persecuted brothers and sisters in your heart that they may sense your prayers and love in the Spirit!

A Psalm for Thanksgiving.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with jubilation;

Come before Him with rejoicing. Know that the Lord Himself is God;

A message from Voice of the Persecuted 

Dear Brothers and Sisters, your prayers have an impact on persecuted Christians who know you are praying for them. They are filled with joy in the realization that they are remembered. Encouraged by your love and concern as you walk with them through your prayers, the Lord is using you to help boost their faith. These brothers and sisters thank God and pray for you as well.

I too would like to thank you for your dedication, for loving them as your family in Christ Jesus and for being a voice on their behalf.

Father God, I thank you for these precious saints that you have gathered to pray and sound the trumpet for those suffering for their faith in Christ. Please bless each member with, peace, love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, discernment through the Holy Spirit and an abundance of your good gifts.

Lord suit them up in your armor. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, fit their feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace, (the ‘Good News of salvation’ so that they can have supernatural peace), a shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is your word, Father.

Protect these dear ones and their families from the flaming arrows of the enemy and give them strength to run their race. In the name of Jesus, may You be glorified!

The power less sought.

One of the most powerful and oft quoted Scriptures is also one of the Scriptures most quoted out of context. Consider 2 Cor 12:9. Typically when we quote a verse, we quote the whole verse. Yet for some strange reason (really not that strange) when we quote some verses we only quote a portion of it.

” And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Now consider the rest of that Scripture ,

“Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

The glory is in the midst of the “infirmity.” In fact we see that the power of God rests upon those who truly discover and encounter His strength in the midst of their weakness. We are never more weak or vulnerable when we are faced with disease and death. And so in the paradoxical Kingdom of God, when we are weak, then we are strong. This strength is what glorifies God. For all of us can glorify God on the mountain-top. Indeed this is the accusation of the Devil in the opening chapter of Job.

Yet only the few can glorify God in the deepest part of the valley, the depths of the dungeon. To glorify God when all is going well is very natural and is something the world understands. To glorify God in the depths of our infirmities, the depths of our dungeons like Paul and Silas, is supernatural and the world marvels at something so other-worldly. Indeed with Paul and Silas we get to see that supernatural power. The building shakes, the the captives doors are loosed and the jailer and his family are saved. All of that began with Paul and Silas glorying in their infirmities and praising God in one of the darkest moments of their life.

I believe peace to be our spiritual barometer. In the midst of a set of circumstances, what is the “atmosphere,’ around us that emanates form the condition of our hearts? Many people stoically go through situations, many are angry and bitter and unapproachable. Yet on the cross, even in the midst of unspeakable anguish, we see Jesus caring for his mother and giving directions for her well being. In saints who walk with the power spoken of in 2 Cor 12:9 we see them minister to others despite their situations. ………………..bro Frank

VOP Aid to Pakistani Christian families during Covid-19 pandemic

Voice of the Persecuted (VOP) received reports from our Pakistani correspondent of numerous cases where poor Christians had been asked by Muslim charities to denounce Jesus and accept Islam in exchange for food packages during the Covid-19 crisis. It’s immoral that Pakistan’s religious minorities, often the most vulnerable in the society, are targeted for more abuse during a pandemic. The crisis has put them at an even greater risk of being discriminated against and persecuted solely for their faith.

In April, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) shared they were troubled by the reports of food aid being denied to religious minorities amid the spread of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

“In a recent address by Prime Minister Khan to the international community, he highlighted that the challenge facing governments in the developing world is to save people from dying of hunger while also trying to halt the spread of COVID-19. This is a monumental task laying before many countries. Prime Minister Khan’s government has the opportunity to lead the way but they must not leave religious minorities behind. Otherwise, they may add on top of it all one more crisis, created by religious discrimination and inter-communal strife”, added USCIRF Commissioner Johnnie Moore.

These actions are simply reprehensible,” stated USCIRF Commissioner Anurima Bhargava. “As COVID-19 continues to spread, vulnerable communities within Pakistan are fighting hunger and to keep their families safe and healthy.  Food aid must not be denied because of one’s faith. We urge the Pakistani government to ensure that food aid from distributing organizations is shared equally with Hindus, Christians, and other religions minorities.”

Pakistan’s economic and social structure is ill-equipped to deal with a pandemic like Covid-19. While the country was in strict lockdown people were unable to work with many Christian laborers unable to feed their families. With little choice, they sought help from charities who misused the situation to forcefully convert people to Islam. That’s when Voice of the Persecuted stepped in to help over 20 families with basic food necessities. We were able to identify impoverished families in Lahore and set out to cover them with food packages during the lockdown.

Our Pakistani representative, Akash Mushtaq, delivered food parcels and spoke with people on the ground. Akash asked Rafiq Masih how he has managed during the coronavirus lockdown.

“We have been very helpless. We have asked for help from government assisted charities and they have turned us down. Many Muslim charities have denied us food because of our Christian names. When they read Masih as our surname, they deny food.”

Many Christians are honored in writing Masih meaning “Christ” in English as their surname.

Shamim, a mother of five, told Voice of the Persecuted,

“I work as a maid in different households and I was able to earn about $200 a month. It was not enough for a family of seven people but we are thankful for whatever we have. Since the lockdown, I have not been allowed to enter homes and I cannot earn. My children are asking for food and clothes and I cannot provide for them. Many Muslims come to offer food if we convert to Islam. We are hungry but not faithless.”

To contain the virus, Pakistan has decided to reimpose a partial lockdown and sealed off high risk residential areas across the country. The Punjab government decided to impose a ‘smart lockdown’ on seven major cities – Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Gujrat – to cut down the sharp increase in infections. In Lahore, the partial lockdown started Tuesday at midnight with the other six cities went under restriction on Wednesday.

Voice of the Persecuted is asking for your help to distribute food packages to more needy Pakistani Christian families in the newly restricted lockdown areas. Together with your generous help, we can reach the goal to alleviate their suffering. In darkness and desperation, let us serve in love, with open arms and giving hands to provide light and hope. Please consider partnering with us to continue aiding our suffering brothers and sisters in Pakistan during this time of great need.

(Voice of the Persecuted) Blaine Scogin began Persecution Watch, a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets three times a week via a free call-in service.

Blaine joined Voice of the Persecuted in 2014 and began serving as our Prayer Director. At this time, the two missions merged. Blaine was also active in serving to meet the immediate physical and spiritual needs of our suffering brothers and sisters through the Voice of the Persecuted mission. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of Voice of the Persecuted. With the passing of our dear brother into glory on December 26, 2019, Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated prayer warrior team.

During the call, the team lifts up the persecuted to cover them in much needed prayer. We pray for individuals, communities and entire nations experiencing extreme persecution. We host the conference call on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 9 p.m. Eastern. (Please check your time zone.)

Prayer Director Blaine Scogin dies of cancer

Blaine Scogin, Founder of Persecution Watch Prayer Conference Call/Prayer Director of Voice of the Persecuted

(Voice of the Persecuted) To all who have been praying for Blaine Scogin, we sincerely thank you. In October, test results revealed that he had stage 4 Melanoma cancer. Blaine passed into glory shortly after midnight following Christmas Day. Brother Blaine was a generous, humble man who loved the Lord and God’s Word with all his heart. He strove to pick up his cross daily and live a life devoted to Christ. He was a role model to all who knew him.

Blaine began the Persecution Watch ministry, a U.S. national prayer conference call, that prays specifically for the Persecuted Church and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. For over a decade, with perseverance and a contagious passion, he faithfully hosted the prayer conference call three times a week and encouraged all to join him. As the Holy Spirit led, Blaine occasionally opened the call for nightly prayer and these devoted prayer warriors were known to meet each night for well over a month. Blaine mobilized prayer for the IDOP and held other special 12 or 24-hour call events. He invited persecuted Christians to share with us and encouraged all to wash their feet in prayer. This deeply touched our persecuted brothers and sisters. They described it as being in the same room praying together with those on the call. I still receive messages of how the prayer team blessed them and they ask for continued prayer. Other ministries collaborated with Persecution Watch during these events and Voice of the Persecuted was privileged to be one of them.

Years ago, Blaine and I met through our calling and desire to serve the Persecuted Church. Not only a ministry partner, he was a brother in Christ and my very dear friend. Our friendship came easy. We understood one another and worked well together. Blaine was also a Board Member and Prayer Director of Voice of the Persecuted (VOP). His passionate heart for the persecuted and prayer was a perfect match for our mission that will be hard to replace. What a blessing to have met and come to know him. I’m forever grateful to the Lord for our meeting, which was truly a divine appointment! Words cannot express how deeply I will miss him and our daily communications.

Blaine was legally blind but he knew his Bible. He would listen to the audio Bible for hours each day. Blaine could quote full chapters and he powerfully prayed God’s Word with enthusiasm. He truly identified with the persecuted and his devotion for those suffering for Christ is unforgettable. He was one of the most gifted intercessors, I’ve ever known! This mighty prayer warrior was also a good leader and he taught in love. We have learned so much on how to pray for the Persecuted Church from him.

I have no doubt the Lord called Blaine to begin and lead the Persecution Watch ministry. Sounding the alarm, he was our wake-up call! His mission was to rouse the sleeping church to the reality of modern-day Christian Persecution, and activate the church to Biblically care and pray for them. Though the Scriptures tell us to relate to the persecuted as if we were suffering with them, persecution is a topic many don’t want to hear. Some, even in the church, still deny it’s taking place or ignore it completely. Anyone in a mission pertaining to the persecuted sometimes feel it’s a lonely place to be. I remember a time when our brother was feeling down. I encouraged him with the Word and told him that he wouldn’t fully realize the effect of his prayers and dedication until he was in glory. As others have shared, we can imagine the martyrs who have gone before Blaine as well as those yet to come, greeting him by name.

2 Timothy 4:7-8  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Though we deeply grieve the loss of our dear brother, we rejoice that he is now without pain or sorrow and in the presence of our Lord. I can almost hear his praises bellowing out above the crowd of saints worshiping Him. Until we meet again dear brother, you’re forever in our hearts.

Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continuing the important prayer mission that Blaine, our Prayer Director, began. Through the Lord’s leading, Blaine grew a strong prayer team who will continue hosting the Persecution Watch call. We encourage you to join them and pray united for the Persecuted Church. Merry Christmas from the Voice of the Persecuted Team

Rejoice! In the name of the Lord, Rejoice!

In the words of Corrie Ten Boom, “Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.”

The true joy of Christmas is in the everlasting love of Christ.

All over the world, persecuted believers are worshiping God for the greatest gift ever given to mankind. They count their suffering worthy to be in Him as part of the Body of Christ. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, please take a moment to remember and pray for those who are suffering in the name of Jesus.

This Christmas, let us reflect not on the trials, but on all God’s blessings in our lives. Let us praise the Lord for His faithfulness to give hope to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, bring liberty to captives and life to the lost. We thank God for comforting all who mourn, giving them strength and peace instead of mourning, and the ability to praise instead of a spirit of fainting. He is always with us in the storm.

Though nothing we could ever give or do will compare to the rescue mission of Christ, because of your prayers and faithful support, persecuted believers have been given hope. From all of us at Voice of the Persecuted and on behalf of persecuted believers, thank you for standing with us in the mission! We pray for the Lord’s guidance and the ability to do more in the coming year.
