What is Persecution Watch?

Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God and he will be greatly missed. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.

Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2013 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.

“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the conference call to share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.

We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!

God bless and protect you in your faithfulness to serve.

Praying for Believers in North Korea

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

North Korea: Population: 25.9 million, Christians about 400,000

North Korea, being second in Christian persecution last year, made it back to the top and is again Number One (1)

North Korea remains a brutally hostile place for Christians to live. If discovered by the authorities, believers are either sent to labor camps as political prisoners where the conditions are atrocious, or killed on the spot – and their families will share their fate as well. Christians have absolutely no freedom. It is almost impossible for believers to gather or meet to worship. Those who dare to meet must do so in utmost secrecy – and at enormous risk. A new ‘anti-reactionary thought law’ makes it amply clear that being a Christian or possessing a Bible is a serious crime and will be severely punished.

A report issued in 2022 by The International Bar Association and The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea said that Christians are particularly targeted and exposed to torture in North Korean prisons. “Detention periods have been documented as being longer for Christians than other groups, and witnesses have reported that ‘identified Christians are interrogated for longer periods, usually under torture’, and subjected to some of the worst forms of torture to force them to incriminate others during interrogation,” it said.

The reason for such extreme persecution is that Christianity is seen as a particular threat to the dictatorial ideology and governance of the country’s barbaric regime. Christians are viewed as enemies of both the leadership and society in general.

Also: “No food, no church.” That’s what we’ve been hearing in North Korea as the country experiences the impact of its worst drought in nearly 40 years.

 • Pray that the Lord will soften the hardened hearts of Kim Jong-un and his regime.

 • Pray that the Lord will take away Kin Jong-un idols, that the Nuclear – Military complex will fold like a house of cards.

 • Pray to the Lord that the insane surveillance system will implode where almost everybody is an informer.

 • Father God, we thank You for the remarkable bravery of our brothers and sisters in North Korea. Continue to encourage, equip and empower them as they follow You amid such extreme persecution.

 • Pray that the Lord will protect secret gatherings of believers – may their meetings be places of divine encounter.

 • Pray to the Lord to protect the NGOs secret networks from detection by the forces of darkness.

 • Pray for NGO’s to be able to bring in sufficient supplies to North Korean Christians who desperately need emergency food relief.

 • Give wisdom, boldness and discernment to Your children to know how to express their faith in society without drawing the attention of the authorities.

 • Pray that the Lord will give supernatural strength to believers who are tortured to the point of death to deny their faith and or reveal the name of other believers, to not break down and bring glory to His name.

 • Pray that the Lord will be merciful and put an end to the cruel labor camps like Yodok. The prison is noisy from the cries and wailing of the tortured, women are raped and when they give birth babies are killed in front of them.

 • Pray that your words will continue to be readily available in North Korea, blind, confuse and distract the border guards. That nobody will come to harm for distributing the word.

 • Pray that the Lord will protect and give Hos strength and peace tp believers who have loved ones in prison or labor camp.

 • Pray that in spite of all the persecution that the Lord will grow the numbers of believers and that the day is near where Christian can plant churches.

Again, we want to lift-up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

  • Leah Sharibu, prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018, pray for her release.
  • Alice Loksha Ngaddah, kidnapped February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.
  • Pray pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison
  • For the release of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, and his family as their  Persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence, recently reduced from ten years.
  • Pray for Ryan Kohler, pilot for Mission Aviation who is in prison in Mozambique. While flying supplies to orphanages in the Northeast of the country, he and two others were detained and accused of supporting terrorism.

The Harvest

  • “I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:18)

A World In Turmoil Yet We Press On

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Saturday, January 14, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

Let us pray and encourage one another with the Scriptures as we look to the Lord and focus on His plan.

Matthew 20:26,27  “…Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave, just as the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

  • Pray for church leaders and National leaders. Against arrogance, would have humility; would not manipulate.

Psalm 86:11 “Teach me your way O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart that I may fear your Name.”

  • Pray understanding, knowledge, and wisdom for believers; would be closer to God and know His ways.
  • Pray leaders of Nations would fear the LORD

Matthew 24:4 “Jesus answered, watch out that no one deceived you.”

  • Pray believers would not be deceived.

Psalm 86:9 “All the Nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your Name.”

  • Pray for salvation for leaders of the world.

Psalm 86:2 “Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; deliver your servant who trusts in you.”

  • Pray for protection for believers who are persecuted.  Deliver them from the hand of the enemy.

Deuteronomy 7:23 “But the LORD your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed.”

  • Pray the enemies of the church would be put to great confusion.

Deuteronomy 7:15 “The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on those who hate you.”

  • Pray for supernatural health and healing for believers.

Psalm 86:17 “Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.”

  • May God’s enemies see supernatural acts of power in defending his people; May they consider their ways and turn from their wickedness.
  • Pray believers would be comforted in their various losses.

Psalm 86:4 “Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.”

  • Pray for a spirit of joy.

Psalm 86:16 “Turn to me and have mercy on me; grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant.”

  • Pray for increased strength.

Matthew 21:21  “Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.’ “

  • Pray for increased faith; pray for the supernatural gift of faith.

Psalm 86:12 “I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your Name forever.”

  • Pray believers would praise the Lord with all their heart; pray Yah’s Name and Kingdom be glorified.

Again, we want to lift these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

  • Leah Sharibu, a prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018; pray for her release.
  • Alice Loksha Ngaddah, kidnapped February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.
  • Pray For Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison.
  • Pray for Anita to make an easy transition into her new culture and that the Lord will be gracious in bringing her family members where they too will be able to freely worship our Lord without fear.
  • For the release of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, and his family as their persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence, recently reduced from ten years.

The Harvest

  • “I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:18)

Persecution Watch: Prayers for Ukraine

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday, January 12, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

Ukraine: Population: 45,3 million – today 41 million(?), Christian 78%

The Ukraine used to be the Bible belt of the Soviet sphere, looking back at a rich Christian heritage. Churches suffered greatly until the Ukraine gained independence and then was open to many evangelical church plants. As you are aware Russia attacked the Ukraine in early 2022 and the nation is now fighting for survival.

  • Please pray to the Lord that He will guide president Zelensky to negotiate an end to the war.
  • Please pray to the Lord that He will touch Putin in a very special, to put it on his heart and mind to end hostilities against the Ukraine.
  • Please pray to the Lord for a cease fire to be observed and honored by both sides.
  • Please pray to the Lord that there will be an adequate supply of medication and that doctors and nurses will not experience any shortages.
  • Pray to the Lord that He will give the Ukrainian forces the ability to supernaturally destroy drones before they reach their targets.
  • Pray to the Lord that He will protect and strengthen Ukrainian soldiers defending their homeland.
  • Pray to the Lord that He will continue to give the Ukrainian military favor to receive advance information of planned Russian attacks.
  • Pray that the remaining civilians have heating material to stay warm during the winter month, as well as electricity and food.
  • Pray for the internally displaced people to have adequate shelter and provisions.
  • Pray for the Women and their children who miss the covering of their husbands and must navigate through a different culture and unfamiliar language.
  • Pray that the Lord will comfort and give strength to the women who don’t know the whereabouts of their husbands, who are troubled not knowing if their loved ones are healthy, wounded or killed in action.
  • Pray for the Christian churches who minister to a multitude of internal refugees.
  • Pray for the Christian missionaries who tirelessly provide spiritual, medical and food support.
  • Pray for the NGO’s and like organizations not to become weary or defeated and continue to maintain the compassionate support for the people in the Ukraine. Pray for generous donors.
  • Pray to the Lord that He will bless the Pastors and saints who have restarted churches in the towns that sustained heavy damage during the fighting.
  • Pray to the Lord that His church will emerge as a strong and vital force, a strong beacon of light in these troubled times.

Again, we want to lift these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

  • Leah Sharibu, a prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018, pray for her release.
