- Pray for Anita, a Christian convert facing a long prison term who escaped from Iran and praying to go to a country where she can express her faith openly.
- For the release of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, and his family as their Persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence.

What is Persecution Watch?

For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.
“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.

The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Prayer Ministry schedules 12-Hour Prayer Conference Call for IDOP 2021
(Voice of the Persecuted) The persecution of Christians is worse today than at any time in history. Presently, Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church originated over 20 years ago. The event was initiated by the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) to raise awareness of the increasing violence, torture, death, worship restrictions, public humiliation, and social isolation that Christians face in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and beyond. Annually, the IDOP is observed on either the first or second Sunday of November, depending on your convenience and choice. This year, the IDOP will be held on Nov. 7th and Nov.14th.
COVID-19 has proved to be an even greater challenge for the persecuted. Repression of Christians in restricted countries as a result of growing authoritarianism, discrimination, rampant hate speech and disinformation, scapegoating of religious minorities, especially on social media has intensified during the global pandemic.
Persecution Watch, which is also the prayer team of Voice of the Persecuted, will host an open 12 hour prayer conference call to mobilize Christians to unite in prayer for those suffering for their faith in Christ during the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP2021). The call begins at 9 a.m. Eastern (USA time zone) and will continue throughout the day until 9p.m on Sunday, Nov. 14th. The call is open to all with a desire to pray for those facing extreme hardships for their faith in Christ. Callers are not required to remain on the call for the full 12 hours, but encouraged to sacrifice some time to join the call and band together in prayer. Mark your calendars!

In Hebrews 13:3, the Bible commands Christians to pray for those suffering as if they themselves were suffering. In other words, the Bible calls us to not only remember those who suffer but also to identify with them in their suffering. In keeping with this scriptural command, the International Days of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) has united millions of Christians in prayer for the suffering Body of Christ around the world. After all, as the Bible says: If one suffers, we all suffer.Over the years, the IDOP has served as a platform to highlight the stories of persecuted Christians and mobilize the global Church to respond to their plight. Moreover, in so doing, the IDOP has also been a source of solidarity and encouragement to persecuted Christians by reminding them that they are part of a larger, global family of believers.
We believe that God uses the prayers of his people to strengthen and deliver suffering saints. However, in order to pray for these suffering brothers and sisters, we must first listen to their stories. In other words, we must hear their cry.

“Brothers and Sisters, in this final hour of redemptive history, we see the forces of Satan marshaling against the followers of Jesus. Persecution continues to increase in a frequency which has not been seen previously in history. Satan has declared an all out war on the followers of Jesus and if possible seeks to destroy them.
But God has given to us powerful weapons that are not of this world. We recognize those weapons as the Word of God and prayer. Imagine the power of using His word as we pray. Through the Holy Spirit, we can pray powerful prayers to uphold our persecuted family.
God has placed us in the freedom of America. We are able to cry out for those who cannot cry out for themselves. The persecuted in the shadow of the cross pray of course, but they also have a heartfelt plea, Please pray that we will ‘endure’ the persecutions and that God will deliver us ‘through’ the persecutions.”

Taliban Beheading Afghans in Brutal Crackdown, Millions Face Starvation: ‘A Humanitarian Catastrophe’
(CBN) Even though much of what’s happening in Afghanistan isn’t making headlines now, the situation is still critical for Americans and others attempting to leave the country.
Circumstances are also increasingly dire for ordinary Afghans. NBC News reports millions of them now face a daily fight with hunger.
For weeks, humanitarian organizations have been warning of an imminent disaster as the Taliban have been failing to feed the nation’s poor amid an economy on the verge of collapse.
Earlier this month, Omar Abdi, deputy executive director for programs at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) cautioned, “We will have a humanitarian catastrophe.”
“There are millions of people who are going to starve. And there is winter coming, there is COVID raging, and the whole social system collapsed, so not just only health, but also other social services. Food shortage, medical shortage. And we heard that there will be fuel shortages. So the whole country is going to collapse if they don’t get support immediately.”
According to recent surveys conducted by the World Food Program, the United Nations’ food assistance branch, 95 percent of households in Afghanistan are not consuming enough food, with parents having to eat less and skip meals to feed their children.
“As more families struggle to put food on the table, the nutritional health of mothers and their children is getting worse by the day,” Hervé Ludovic De Lys, UNICEF representative in Afghanistan, said in a statement on Oct. 5.
Account of Life Under Taliban Rule
Tori Richards, an investigative reporter with The Washington Examiner, appeared on the Thursday morning edition of CBN’s Newswatch and described what her sources are telling her about what life is like under the Taliban in the newly established Islamic emirate.
Richards told CBN News, “It’s horrible. They are back to beheading people. Hunting people down, going from home to home, and just terrorizing the citizens. It’s not the kinder, gentler Taliban that they had promised.”
When asked about the number of Americans still in the country, Richard said there are probably thousands of Americans still in Afghanistan. No one knows for sure how many.
“I’ve been talking with a family that’s desperately trying to get out because someone in that family worked for special operations under our command,” she said. “And even a general, who is a source of mine, wrote to the State Department saying, ‘Help these people,’ but that doesn’t really matter. They haven’t gotten on a plane.”
“So they just hear gunfire every night,” Richards continued. “They see people hung up in the square. They’re just terrified, hunkered down in some home that’s not even theirs because they don’t want any trace coming back to them. And so they text me almost every day saying, ‘When is it our turn?’ It’s just tragic.”

Persecution Watch: Praying for Believers in Kenya

Kenya: Population: 53.5 million, Christians 44 (82 %)
In Kenya, Christianity is the majority religion, but that hasn’t stopped the spread of persecution. Particularly, Christians with a Muslim background in the northeast and coastal regions live under constant threat of attack—even from their closest relatives. Our research revealed that Christians were attacked and forced to flee their villages, and Islamic extremist group al-Shabab has infiltrated the local population to monitor the activities of Christians in those areas.
However, organized crime is also a serious problem. Corrupt officials often fail to take measures against persecutors—increasing the potential for further incidents against Christians. For believers in Kenya, daily life is filled with pressure—especially in their private and social lives. And in some regions like the northeast, where al-Shabab is a constant threat, church and community life are very difficult and can also include the threat of violence.
The situation for Christians in Kenya has remained dire over the last three years. While Kenya moved down five spots from the 2020 World Watch List, violence actually increased significantly reflecting an overall increase in persecution across the list versus an improved situation for Kenyan Christians.
Christians living in and around the northeastern part of the country must live with the fear that they can be targeted at any time. Hotspots for attacks by al-Shabab include Mombasa, Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Lamu and Tana River. In these areas, many local informants assist in organizing attacks on churches and Christians. As a result, many believers have chosen to relocate from these areas to the center of the country.
Open Doors and other NGOs have been present, working in Kenya through local partners and churches since the early 2000s. We offer support to churches in the volatile Islam-dominated northeastern border and coastal regions. Much of our work has been in the area of equipping the church—and more recently, our work has focused on COVID-19 relief. Christians are increasingly facing persecution, and it is our mission to see the local church prepared to disciple new believers, train leaders, and help them remain strong. Open Doors also assists in cross-cultural evangelism, economic empowerment, and leadership and trauma care training.
- Pray that the government will protect the rights of believers in Muslim majority areas.
- Pray for the wisdom and strength of government leaders standing against Islamic extremism.
- Pray for the protection of Christian minorities along the coast.
- Pray that churches in central Kenya will encourage and support ministry work in Muslim majority regions.
- Pray for Christian converts from Islam who face ongoing threats and persecution from family members.
- Pray for the continued boldness of churches in northeastern Kenya as they face Islamist attacks.
- Pray for those sharing the gospel with Somalis living in Kenya.
- Please pray for the Lord’s continued grace for new believers in Kenya. Pray that through trials and persecution they would see the Lord’s faithfulness in protection and provision.
- Pray that the Lord, through His Spirit, would grant the persecuted joy, peace and courage in their suffering.
- Pray for Christians in the northeast who face threats of deadly attacks from al-Shabab. Ask God to protect them, to shelter them from violence and to give them a peace that only comes from Him.
- Pray that the godly leaders would equip and disciple new believers as well as grow the saints in faith.
- Pray believers effectively share the gospel with their neighbors—strengthening and expanding the worldwide Church for the glory of Christ.
- Lord Jesus we pray that you will guide and encourage your church in Kenya through these difficult times of increasing violence. We pray that you bind the forces of darkness.

Persecution Watch: Praying through 2 Corinthians 4
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Tuesday 26, October 2021 in a conference prayer call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Dear Prayer Warriors hear God and see His ways. In 2 Corinthians 4, I see us as we pray for the Persecuted Church. I can also see our brothers and sisters in Christ as they are persecuted, suffering for choosing to follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
“4 Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servant for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

I’m reminded of the multiple Scriptures in the Bible that warn, ‘Those who have hears let them hear and those of who have eyes let them see’.
Tonight, we will pray for Afghan Christians, the nation of Afghanistan, and the 17 missionaries kidnapped in Haiti.
We will also remember these dear ones:
Leah Sharibu and Alice that they will be set free from Boko Haram captivity.
- Leah Sharibu was kidnapped along with 109 other students on February 19, 2018 when Boko Haram attacked a boarding school in the city of Dapchi, Maiduguri Diocese, in north-eastern Nigeria. A month later, some of the girls died in captivity and all the others were released, except Leah. She was the only Christian in the group
- Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped during the Rann attack on March 1, 2018. She was a nurse working with Unicef and is a mother of two.
- Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison, for his family, the children, and the church in China. Pastor Wang Yi who is currently serving his prison sentence.
- Anita an Iranian Christian, persecuted by the Islamic regime seeking asylum.
- Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, for his release and his family as their persecution continues. At present he is serving his six-year sentence.

Praying for Israel and the Global Church Body

Greetings, I would like to pray again for Israel and the body of Messiah all over the world.
As Israel goes, so goes the church. As in the rest of the world, there needs to be unity, fervency, strategic spiritual warfare among believers.
Warfare with the powers of darkness is increasing. We can see it in the natural among people and Nations as well as the physical earth.
Ephesians 4:3
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit …”
- Pray for unity among believers, especially among Jewish and Arab believers; bring down denominational walls
John 16:13
“When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth …”
- Pray the church will not be deceived, but would know the truth
John 16:8
“When He (Holy Spirit, Comforter, Counselor) comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness, and judgment.”
- Pray for the harvest, to the Jew first but also to the Goyim (Nations, people)

- Pray protection for all Israel’s people: soldiers, children, elderly, Mossad (the National Intelligence Agency of Israel), and the land itself from arson.
- Give wisdom and strategies for the IDF (Israel defense force). Expose all intelligence that Israel is missing.
- Protect her spies and give them superior cyber security.
Psalm 67:4 “May the Nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the people justly and govern the Nation upon earth.”
- Pray that people of integrity who trust in the God of Israel will be placed in office and have greater influence in Israel’s politics and policies; pray God’s anointed leader for the Likud party; pray MKs who are undermining Israel would be unsuccessful.
- Pray that violence between Israeli and Arab police will stop; pray a stop to rioting among the people; pray that rock throwing at buses and autos would be put to an end and no one would be injured from that.
- Pray the United States would continue to support Israel; not only with finances but also stand up for them in the UN, the EU and anywhere else; we would not pressure Israel into entering any ungodly alliances.

Praying for the Persecuted in Malaysia
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday October 21, 2021 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Malaysia: Population: 38.2 million, Christians 2.9 million (9.1%)
In Malaysia, the government and religious groups monitor churches, and it is illegal to share the gospel with Malay Muslims. Converts from Islam to Christianity experience the most persecution, as every ethnic Malay is expected to be Muslim. These believers are often forced to hide their faith and meet in secret. If discovered, they could face divorce from their spouse, rejection from their family—or even risk being sent to a re-education camp. This is why pressure is most extreme in the family and community life spheres for Malay believers. Whoever leaves Islam is not just going against Malaysia’s constitution, but also against society at large—pitting believers against their own family members and neighbors.
However, apart from the abduction of certain Christians in recent years, persecution has rarely been violent in Malaysia. Pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth have been missing for more than three years now, after they disappeared from their home in the state of Selangor. Pastor Raymond Koh was abducted while driving on a busy road in the city of Petaling Jaya and has been missing since February 2017. His whereabouts are still unknown, and according to the findings of the country’s human rights commission, Malaysia’s Special Branch of the police was involved in the abduction.
Though Malaysia dropped by six ranks on the 2021 World Watch List from last year, the reality of persecution in the country remained largely unchanged. While there was some hope for a new openness in Malaysia after elections in 2018, to a great extent this has not happened. The hopes that came with the new government and its seeming commitment to more religious liberty have been replaced with disappointment, and persecution against followers of Jesus has not changed much at all. There are no hotspots of persecution for Christians in Malaysia. However, the Islamic missionary work among Christians—especially among the Bumiputra people group—focuses on East Malaysia. As the number of migrating Muslims grew in the region, specifically in Sabah State, the area’s religious affiliation ceased to be Christian majority several years ago.
Prayer Points
- Pray for believers who seek to meet in secret. Ask God to give them meaningful times of worship and fellowship—along with the protection they need to gather safely.
- Pray for religious freedom across Malaysia. Today, it is illegal to share the gospel with Malay Muslims—and it is also unlawful for Malay Muslims to leave Islam for Christianity.
- Pray for Malay believers who have left Islam and are often isolated and cut off from their family members for embracing Jesus. Ask God to give them special grace and that they would know and feel they are never alone.
- Pray for wisdom and boldness for church leaders as they lead their people in discipleship. Ask God to give Malay believers unity and strength to live out their faith through every trial they face.
- Pray that the Lord will appear to many Muslims in their dreams and lead them to believers who may evangelize them.
- Pray for boldness as believers witness to their Muslim friends and neighbors.
- Pray that believers will be set free from the fear of persecution and focus on the Lord.
- Pray for the continued ability of Christian workers to minister in Malaysia.
- Pray that God will bring about an end to government corruption.
- Pray that Christian converts from Islam will find fellowship with other believe
- Pray that the people who experience persecution will love and forgive their persecutors.
- Pray to the Lord that He will encourage His pastors and elders as they minister to the persecuted saints.
- Pray that internet messages will reach many Muslims and help them to come to Christ and that Christians will also be encouraged.
- Pray that The Lord will grow His church in Malaysia and that it will become a beacon in the dark.
Again, we want to lift up persecuted witnesses to the Lord:
- Leah Sharibu, prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.

Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2013 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.
“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.
On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the conference call to share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.
Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.

Persecution Watch: Praying for Believers in North Korea
(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 in a conference prayer call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Dear Prayer Warriors, sister Rosalee will lead us to pray for North Korea, tonight.
It has been estimated by Open Doors that there are approximately 300,000 Christians in North Korea, most of whom operate in secret networks of churches. Moreover, the state considers the spread of Christianity a serious threat.
- Pray that God will grant believers wisdom and boldness, as they continue to represent their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in an unstable environment.
Christians continue to be seen as dangerous and are considered part of a hostile class.
- Pray that God will turn what the enemy means for evil into good thereby granting open doors to the Christians, but more so that the persecutors will have open heart.
Ownership of Bibles or other religious materials is reported illegal and punishable by imprisonment and in some cases execution.
- Pray that the persecutors of Christians would be curious enough about this Book called the Bible and be willing to read it and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
There are tens of thousands of Christians in camps and restricted villages, many of whom are suffering in the most inhumane conditions.
- Pray That God guy will give Christian the grace to endure and if it is not His will that they will be able to say like the apostle Paul in Philippians 1:21 “To live is Christ and to die is gain” .
Christianity has a long history in North Korea. Before the end of World War II, there were more Christians in what is now North Korea then there where in modern-day South Korea. Before World War II, Pyongyang had many churches and it was known to some observers as the Jerusalem of the East.
- Pray that God will bring a great revival. Psalm 85:6 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”
For Christians, life is a struggle. The only official belief system estate worship is the king dynasty. Christians are forced to worship underground but, if caught punishment awaits.
- Pray that the believers will be strong and not deny the Lord. Exodus 20:3“You shall have no other gods before me.”
There are instances where women who became pregnant were forced to abort their babies. One pregnant Christian was captured and after her third attempt to escape was captured again and her baby was aborted. Her little sister was also trafficked and sold into slavery.
- Pray Exodus 20:13 ” You shall not murder”
We will also remember these dear ones:
Leah Sharibu and Alice that they will be set free from Boko Haram captivity.
- Leah Sharibu was kidnapped along with 109 other students on February 19, 2018 when Boko Haram attacked a boarding school in the city of Dapchi, Maiduguri Diocese, in north-eastern Nigeria. A month later, some of the girls died in captivity and all the others were released, except Leah. She was the only Christian in the group
- Alice Loksha Ngaddah was kidnapped during the Rann attack on March 1, 2018. She was a nurse working with Unicef and is a mother of two.
- Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison, for his family, the children, and the church in China. Pastor Wang Yi who is currently serving his prison sentence.
- Anita an Iranian Christian, persecuted by the Islamic regime seeking asylum.
- Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, for his release and his family as their persecution continues. At present he is serving his six-year sentence.
