(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us, tonight, in a prayer conference call hosted by Persecution Watch.

It’s heartbreaking to hear that our elderly Pakistani brother in Christ, who was falsely accused of blasphemy, has died from the severe injuries he received while basically being stoned by an enraged Muslim mob. Read the full report here.

Let us pray!

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

  • The family is experiencing severe trauma. Pray that the Lord would minister healing. Notably for the children who witnessed the extremely violent attack that took the life of their grandfather.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Pray God will grant them His peace.

Isaiah 61:7 instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

  • Pray that God will restore to them a double portion instead of shame.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

  • Pray that they may experience and recognize God working all things together for their good, throughout their lives.

Luke 6:27 But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

  • Pray that Pakistani Christians will not be filled with bitterness but will experience the power of forgiveness.

Rom 12:17-21 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. 20“BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

  • Pray Pakistani Christians will overcome evil with good and remember that vengeance is the Lord’s and to trust Him.
  • Pray that they will respond in righteousness to persecution. May the light of Christ shine through them and cause Muslims to take notice that they are different, loving and forgiving.

Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

  • The churches in Pakistan are often divided. Pray for the unity of the body of Christ in Pakistan.

Titus 2:7 in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, 8sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

  • Pray the Pakistani church will lead with integrity.

Matthew 10:16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

  • Pray for Pakistani Christian leaders. Ask God to grant them a a shepherd’s heart. May they know how to discern a balance between humility and advocacy.

Luke 10:6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.

In Pakistan, we have verbally heard and read numerous reports of local Muslims sheltering Christians in their homes during attacks and displaying Quranic verses to indicate that these were Muslim to thwart the enraged, radicalized mobs.

  • Pray for the peacemakers. May God grant these peaceful, loving Muslims with a revelation of Himself then become eternal brothers and sisters and share our joy in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:22-26 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. 24The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

  • Pray for violent Muslims who use Islam as a means for their own bitterness and hatred. Other Muslims have been deceived into thinking that such practices are the way to salvation. They have been taken captive by the devil to do his will.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

  • Pray that they will come to their senses. May God give discontent to radical Muslims who seek the death of others and lead them to Christ, the one who offers them life. Pray that they might forsake their ways and discover the mercy of God.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

  • Pray that God will give Pakistani Christians courage to share their faith so the Gospel is spread to the lost throughout Pakistan, with many coming to faith in Christ. May Heaven rejoice and God be glorified!

1 Timothy 2:1-8 (Titled as “A Call to Prayer”) First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. 7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

  • Pray for the government of Pakistan. While its track record has been undesirable towards Christians, God has established the governing authorities so that people may live quietly and so that wrongdoers will be punished.
  • Pray that those responsible for Pakistan’s governance have the wisdom to know how to lead this troubled nation. Pray they will allow the Lord to lead them with courage and honesty to do the right thing.

Romans 13:11-14 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. 12The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

Pray the Word saints!

What is Persecution Watch?

Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the two missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God and he will be greatly missed. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.

Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2015 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2016. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.

“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church was moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters are invited to the conference call and share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.

We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in, and pray silently or mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!

God bless and protect you in your faithfulness to serve.
