Persecution Watch: Praying for Ukraine

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Thursday June 9, 2022 in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

Ukraine: Population: Approx. 45 million, Christians approx.. 35 million

Ukraine-Russia war: As losses mount, how long can they keep up the battle?

Ukraine had around 250,000 soldiers before the Russian invasion, but its government hasn’t said how many have died fighting Vladimir Putin’s military. .

As soon as they had finished burying a veteran colonel killed by Russian shelling, the cemetery workers readied the next hole. Inevitably, given how quickly death is felling Ukrainian troops on the front lines, the grave won’t stay empty for long.

Col. Oleksandr Makhachek left behind a widow, Elena, and their daughters Olena and Myroslava-Oleksandra. In the first 100 days of war, his grave was the 40th dug in the military cemetery in Zhytomyr, 90 miles west of the capital, Kyiv.

He was killed May 30 in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine, where the fighting is raging. Nearby, the burial notice on the also freshly dug grave of Viacheslav Dvornitskyi says he died May 27. Other graves also showed soldiers killed within days of each other — on May 10, 9, 7 and 5. And this is just one cemetery, in just one of Ukraine’s cities, towns and villages laying soldiers to rest.

  • Pray to the Lord that He will supernaturally put an end to the fighting in the Ukraine.
  1. Cease fire
  2. Armistice and negotiations
  • Pray for a change in the Russian Government, for Putin and the Hawks to be replaced by leaders seeking to end the conflict.
  • Pray that the Lord to give wisdom and discernment and to guide the steps of the Ukrainian government
  • Pray the Lord that He will continue to give Ukrainian forces advance information on Russian plans and actions.
  • Pray to the Lord to that He will continue to trouble, blind the Russian military with miscommunication, detrimental orders and sending soldiers in the wrong direction.
  • Pray that the Lord’s hand is on the Christian soldiers to be protected and not become discouraged.
  • Pray for the Chaplains in the Ukrainian army to remain strong in faith as they minister in hospitals and on the field.
  1. one of our chaplains lost 22 people in the last 30 days
  2. to comfort the mothers and children in the face of death
  • Pray that the Lord will make His presence felt to all the believers who lost loved ones.
  • Pray for churches in the Western Ukraine who minister to refugees
  • Pray for the refugees to not only find shelter but also Christian as well as trauma counseling.
  • Pray for the protection of aid workers who bring in medication and food – disregarding their safety.
  • Pray to the Lord Jesus Christ that all the people will realize their only peace is with HIM that they will turn to Him.

Again, we want to lift up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

  • Leah Sharibu, prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.
  • Alice Loksha Ngaddah, kidnapped February 2019. She is a mother of two, working as a nurse for UNICEF. Pray for her release.
  • Pray for Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison.
  • Pray for Anita, a Christian convert facing a long prison term who escaped from Iran and praying to go to a country where she can express her faith openly.
  • For the release of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from Iran, and his family as their Persecution continues. Pastor Nadarkhani is serving the second year of his six-year sentence.

What is Persecution Watch?

Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God and he will be greatly missed. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.

Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2013 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2015. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia and the prayer team in the mission and their personal lives.

“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church were moved by the Holy Spirit to pray, we too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the conference call to share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.

We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!

God bless and protect you in your faithfulness to serve.

Praying for Ukraine with Brother Michael

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for a prayer conference call for Ukraine, hosted by Persecution Watch.

The Russian Invasion into Ukraine has entered a new phase. The emphasis has shifted away from the capital City of Kyiv to the eastern provinces, to controlling Ukrainian territory from the Crimea to Luhansk in the Donbas region. Long range goal to get Ukraine excluded from Black Sea ports and deprive them of the Eastern provinces with their energy rich lands. Making the rest of Ukraine insignificant.

Please pray to the Father that He will protect President Zelensky and his cabinet from Russian military forces.

Pray that the Ukrainians are earnestly seeking the Lord in prayer.

Pray to the Lord that He will give the Ukrainian fighters favor, showing them how to stop the Russian aggression.

Pray that the Lord will trouble the commanding Russian leaders with lost instructions and confusing as well as contradictory orders.

Pray that the Lord that the Ukrainian military will continue to receive advance intelligence on Russian plans and movements.

Pray that the Lord will strengthen and sustain all relief workers who have been working nonstop to answer the needs of the Ukrainian people.

Pray to the Lord that the “West” stays focused on Ukraine, does not get weary and that public opinion moves on.

Pray to the Lord that Ukrainian refugees will continue to be welcomed, and the Nations will not become weary by the multitudes seeking food and shelter.

Pray to the Lord to comfort the families who were torn apart by the war from their husbands not knowing how they are doing and will they come through this alive.

Pray to the Lord to give the opposition in Russia more visibility, or a way out of the country.

Lord we humbly ask, that You the Great almighty God, will put an end to this war and all the misery it causes.

Please join us on the prayer conference call, tonight.

Ukraine

  • Pray that the Prince of Peace will resolve the conflict in the Ukraine and protect innocent lives.
  • Pray to God to frustrate the plans of the enemy and hold him in derision. May every attempt he makes to progress destruction and death will turn against him.

  • Pray for the wounded who have lost loved ones. May God be their Defender and their hope.

  • Pray that the Lord will give boldness and courage to Russian officials who are trapped by fear and what it may cost to speak up against Putin.
  • Pray for strength and wisdom for all of Ukrainians: for them not to grow weary in doing good, for their soldiers and leaders of the country to experience God’s strength and wisdom in this time.
  • Please pray to the Father that He will give President Zelensky and his team favor in negotiating a durable ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops.
  • Pray that the Ukrainians are earnestly seeking the Lord in prayer.
  • Pray that the Lord will frustrate and trouble the commanding Russian leaders with lost instructions and confusing as well as contradictory orders.
  • Pray that the Ukrainian military will continue to receive advanced intelligence on Russian plans and movements.
  • Pray that all men and women who are staying behind have adequate food and first aid supplies.
  • Pray to the Lord to comfort the families who were torn apart by the war from their husbands not knowing how they are doing and will they come through this alive.

“21 And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled. 22 When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the LORD set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to Beth Acacia, toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.

John 16:23-24

“23 And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Tonight: Prayer Conference Call for Ukraine

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Saturday, March 12, 2022 in a prayer conference call for Ukraine and the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.

Hebrews 10:31-34

“31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34 You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

  • Pray for safety for President Zelensky and his cabinet, and their families.

Mariupol on south coast, Kharkiv in East – been surrounded for two weeks and low on food, medicine.  Stories of continued bombing in Mariupol leading to emergency amputations.

  • Pray for grace and supplies.

Mykolaiv getting hit hard.  Last costal city before Odesa and Ukraine’s entire access to international waters.

  • Pray that Ukraine’s western coast remains free.
  • Pray that Russia’s navy continues to not be involved in this war.
  • Pray that Ukraine can defend their skies over the capital and other areas not controlled by Russia.

Putin has a history of sneaking provocateurs inside territories, who create an excuse for an invasion.

  • Pray that Ukrainians can detect who to trust, and who is betraying them.

As civilian casualties increase.

  • Pray that Ukraine does not fall to the spirit of bloodiness or spirit of killing.
  • Pray the Russian government decide this war is causing themselves too much trouble, and just go home.
  • Pray for the Ukrainian men and women who are trying to survive in bombed or surrounded cities.
  • Pray that Ukrainians earnestly seek the Lord in prayer.
  • Pray to the Lord to hold His hand over the nuclear power plants and protect them from releasing radiation.
  • Pray to the Lord that much needed medical supplies will reach the hospitals that are running low.
  • Pray that the people stayed in Ukraine have adequate food and medical supplies.
  • Pray that the Lord will work miracles, so many civilians can escape cities through safe corridors.
  • Pray to the Lord that Ukrainian refugees are welcomed at the border and find both food and shelter.
  • Pray that the Lord will confuse the Russian leaders, like He did for Gideon.
  • Pray to the Lord that the Russian equipment will be break down.
  • Pray that the Russian offensive will continue to stall and implode.
  • Ask the Lord that He will give the Ukrainian freedom fighters both protection and wisdom in trying to stop the enemy.
  • Ask the Lord that the nations who stand in solidarity with the Ukraine, will continue to support Ukraine.

Lord we humbly ask, that You the great almighty God will not allow Russia to defeat and take over the Ukraine.

We are continuing to lift up persecuted witnesses to the Lord:

Prayer Conference Call for Ukraine

(Voice of the Persecuted) You are invited to join us on Sunday March 6, 2022 in a prayer conference call for Ukraine hosted by Persecution Watch.

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

My God, in Him I will trust.”

3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the bird-trap

And from the perilous pestilence.

4 He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and small shield.

5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,

And ten thousand at your right hand;

But it shall not come near you.

8 Only with your eyes shall you look,

And see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,

Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

10 No evil shall befall you,

Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,

To keep you in all your ways.

12 In their hands they shall bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,

The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;

I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him,

And show him My salvation.”

Evacuations are harder to do.  Leaving the east means stopping at many checkpoints, Capital is close to being surrounded.

Ancient city of Odesa, independent of Russia even when green men tried to topple it in 2014, about to be surrounded, and all coastal areas to international traveling about to be cut off.

Ukraine said “humanitarian corridors” were bombed.

Headline-U.S. officials are traveling to Venezuela in an effort to separate Russia from its remaining allies.

Finland, Non-NATO and Nervous – with educated Russians losing jobs as foreign companies leave, and Russian flights canceled, the educated are looking for a way to leave Russia

Jeremiah 31:25 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

People delivering medical and other supplies are getting shot

  • Pray for their safety.

One news report of train evacuating medical emergency children.

  • Please pray for orphans and children separated from parents.

People with target on back (people the Russian government wants to capture) can escape.

Reports that most citizens of Russia either don’t know there is a war going on, or they trust Putin, or are too afraid to speak out.

Foreign Staff at Campus Crusade/Crew in Russia were given 2 days to leave, and Russian staff don’t know how they will get foreign support.

  • Pray for Christian ministries in Russia to have wisdom during changes.

All my Russian friends are against the war.

  • Please pray for Russians to not be swayed by government propaganda.
