Praying through the Scriptures for the Persecuted – Week 1

United with the Persecuted

2/6/2020 (Voice of the Persecuted) Join us in a prayer conference call for the persecuted, tonight.

1. Praise

1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flute.
Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Everything that has breath shall praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

2. Cry out and mourn for all the evil in this world. Bride to cry out.

And the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and make a mark on the foreheads of the people who groan and sigh over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”

7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the perverted conduct of unscrupulous people 8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),

3How long, Lord, shall the wicked—How long shall the wicked triumph?
4 They pour out words, they speak arrogantly; All who do injustice boast.
5 They crush Your people, Lord, And afflict Your inheritance.

Cry out to rescue the persecuted church.

16 Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do injustice?

17 If the Lord had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.

Let us not be silent.

1God, do not remain quiet;
Do not be silent and, God, do not be still.
2 For behold, Your enemies make an uproar,
And those who hate You have exalted themselves.
They make shrewd plans against Your people,
And [conspire together against Your treasured ones.
They have said, “Come, and let’s wipe them out as a nation,
So that the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”
For they have conspired together with one mind;
They make a covenant against You:
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Hagrites;
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek,
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assyria also has joined them;
They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah

Deal with them as with Midian,
As with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who became like dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
And all their leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 Who said, “Let’s possess for ourselves
The pastures of God.”

13 My God, make them like the [g]whirling dust,
Like chaff before the wind.
14 Like fire that burns the forest,
And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,
15 So pursue them with Your heavy gale,
And terrify them with Your storm.
16 Fill their faces with dishonor,
So that they will seek Your name, Lord.
17 May they be ashamed and dismayed forever,
And may they be humiliated and perish,
18 So that they will know that You alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the Most High over all the earth.

Cry out for the suffering church.

1Hear my prayer, Lord!
And let my cry for help come to You.
Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call answer me quickly.
For my days have ended in smoke,
And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.
My heart has been struck like grass and has withered,
Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.
Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh.
I resemble a pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
I lie awake, I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

My enemies have taunted me all day long;
Those who deride me have used my name as a curse.
For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mixed my drink with weeping

3.  Pray for the suffering church

  • (2 Corinthians 4:8-12)

8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;

9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed;

10 always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

11 For we who live are constantly being handed over to death because of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.

12 So death works in us, but life in you.

19 For He looked down from His holy height;
From heaven the Lord looked upon the earth,
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner,
To set free those who were doomed to death,

For my days have ended in smoke,
And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.
My heart has been struck like grass and has withered,
Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.
Because of the loudness of my groaning
My bones cling to my flesh.
I resemble a pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.

What is Persecution Watch?
Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God.

The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted and our missions became one. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch is an important part of our own.

With the passing of Blaine into glory on December 26, 2019, Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with our dedicated prayer warrior team.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the call to share the trials they’re facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer.

Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone. We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you.

If you’re new to the call and can’t find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!

NOTE: Persecution Watch has a new email address for the prayer team and those who would like to receive urgent prayer requests, weekly call prayer points and notification of special prayer events and special guest speakers.

Please fill out the form below to be included in our new distribution list to receive this important information. We are grateful for your prayers and to the Lord for guiding us as we continue the Persecution Watch prayer call mission.
