Prayer ministry of Voice of the Persecuted

Saturday, 6/6/2020 (Voice of the Persecuted) Dear Prayer Warriors, In 2017, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association sponsored a summit in Washington, D.C.,  ‘World Summit In Defense of Persecuted Christians’, to raise awareness and advocate change as hundreds of church leaders, victims of persecution and others were invited to talk about the unprecedented persecution of Christians throughout the world, At the conclusion of the event, a final declaration was issued. “We see the reports every few days on the news. … Reports show that some 215 million Christians experience ‘high, very high or extreme persecution. We can’t sit idly by while these atrocities continue.” – Franklin Graham

Billy Graham once said, “Prayer is the Christian’s greatest weapon,”

Consider the following five points as you battle for your fellow Christian brothers and sisters worldwide.

1. Pray for those in the midst of persecution (Hebrews 13:3 )

Global watchdog Open Doors reports that 322 Christians are killed every month for their faith while millions more suffer persecution on a routine basis. Please pray that these believers will not only stay committed to the call of Christ but also will respond in love to the evil shown by their aggressors. God’s love will open doors for these believers to share the Gospel even more.

2. Pray for those who are doing the persecuting Matthew 5:44

Pray that God would open the eyes and soften the hearts of these individuals who bring unfathomable abuse upon Christians. Remember as you pray that God sent His Son for the whole world (John 3:16, ESV); He does not want anybody—even these individuals—to perish (Ezekiel 18:23

3. Pray for the families and loved ones of those being persecuted Hebrews 4:16

Ask God to comfort families who many times do not receive updates about their loved one and are not allowed to visit, or it’s simply not safe enough to do so. Pray they, too, will remain faithful to the calling God has placed on their lives.

4. Pray that churches would rise up  Acts 4:23-35

Support from the body of Christ is so critical. Whether we are giving up our time in prayer or our resources in physical support, the church must rally around those suffering for Christ. American Christians also should rattle the door of Washington by writing their elected officials. Remind them the persecution of Christians is a real issue that must be addressed.

5. Pray that world leaders would do all they can to fight this persecution Psalm 2:10-11

God makes it clear in His Word that leaders have a responsibility. Pray God would stir their hearts, and they would not only draft but enact the necessary policies and procedures to make a lasting, global difference.

Again, we want to lift up persecuted witnesses for the Lord and pray for Leah Sharibu and Alice to be set free from Boko Haram captivity inNigeria. Pray for Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison in China and for Anita, a Christian convert recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for sharing the Gospel in Iran.

You are invited to join us on the Persecution Watch prayer call for the persecuted church, tonight.

Dear brothers and sisters, I welcome all of you who are called by His Holy Spirit to join me tonight as He leads in prayer.

In Christ Love

What is Persecution Watch?
Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted and our missions became one. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch is an important part of our own. With the passing of Blaine into glory on December 26, 2019, Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continue the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with our dedicated prayer warrior team.

On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters have been invited on the call to share the trials they’re facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time is often reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A also helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.

Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone. We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you’re new to the call and can’t find your voice, listen in and pray silently or on mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!

NOTE: Persecution Watch has a new email address for the prayer team and those who would like to receive urgent prayer requests, weekly call prayer points and notification of special prayer events and special guest speakers.
