At least 25 were killed and 49 wounded when a bomb targeted worshiper’s during Sunday service (10am) at St Peter’s Church in Cairo. Six children were among the dead. The bomb exploded inside the church and was left in an area to specifically target women and children. State television reported an explosive device had been thrown into the building, but witnesses said the bomb had been planted in the church.

St Peter’s Church is beside St Mark’s Cathedral, which is the seat of Egypt’s Orthodox Christian church and is home to the office of its spiritual leader, Pope Tawadros II.  Services were being held in St Peter’s, while St Mark’s Cathedral was being renovated.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, however, some supporters of the ISIS celebrated the attack on social media.

One message said: ‘God is great, God is great, God is great.’

Another wrote: ‘ God bless the person who did this blessed act.’

Thank you for covering this and huge kudos for devoting so much work to expose the persecution of Christians all over the world.

If you don’t mind, I have alluded to your blog in my post on the same topic:

  2. “Righteousness and justice are the foundations of God’s Throne. The Judge is standing at the door. And it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the LIVING GOD !” The Lord has long ago spoken. His Word will come to pass swifter and sharper than any “other” sword…

  3. It was refreshing tonight to see Eygpt’s Pres. Sisi speak out strongly against this act of terrorism directed at Christians. Other than PM Netanyahu in Israel, he is the only mideast leader (or any world leader?) to speak up for Christians and quickly denounces terror committed in the name of Islam. Conversely it doesn’t have very much impact when the US, UN or others form investigational committees and announce 18 months later what we knew on day one!
