(Voice of the Persecuted) Today, in this moment, Christians are being overtly persecuted in over 60 nations around the globe.  Daring to be Christians and claiming Jesus is Lord, they are sought out, harassed, imprisoned, beaten by violent mobs, their churches and villages burned to the ground and killed for nothing more than being followers of Christ. It’s open season on Christians, the most persecuted religious group in the modern world. A majority in America and it’s leadership continues to remain silent about this horrific humanitarian crisis, yet seem to throw to the forefront and champion every other cause they deem politically correct. But when it comes to persecuted Christians…silence.

Silence-in-the-face-of-evilIt’s amazing that a nation with a majority Christian population, is silent with a government apparently indifferent to persecuted Christians. Mainly uninterested in coming to their aid.

Former U.S. Representative Frank Wolf, a voice for religious freedom and the persecuted, warned that what is happening to Christians in the Middle East actually meets the United Nations definition of ‘genocide’. And that it’s a disgrace we are not doing more for them.

(AINA) Former White House Chief of Staff John Sununu said in an interview on Sunday that President Obama seems to be “indifferent” to the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

During an appearance on “The Cats Roundtable,” a 970 radio show on AM 970 in New York, Sununu said Americans needs to keep pressuring their congressmen and senators to “talk some sense into the president.”

“It’s a tragedy what’s happening,” Sununu told host John Catsimatidis. “And I cannot believe that this administration, this president, does not understand that there is a concerted effort to destroy the Christian community in Iraq, the Christian community in Syria in particular, and they’re being slaughtered.”

Sununu, who comes from Greek Orthodox family with roots in the Middle East, said there are tens of thousands of Christians being killed.

“There seems to be an indifference in Washington to what is happening there,” he said. “These are not trivial numbers.”

Sununu served as New Hampshire’s 75th governor and White House chief of staff during the George W. Bush administration.

Here’s a snippet of a piece titled ‘Obama turns blind eye to violence against Christians’ written by John McCain in June,

Throughout the Middle East and North Africa today, Christianity is under attack.  Terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are destroying some of the oldest and most sacred Christian communities and relics in the world on the very lands where Christianity was born and first took root. They are committing brutal atrocities against Christian communities in Syria and Iraq, persecuting religious minorities and destroying entire towns and local economies. Christians are fleeing their homes in increasing numbers, creating an exploding refugee crisis that will have grave ramifications on the stability and security of the entire region. While the world has been rightly outraged by the violence waged by ISIS against people of all sects, ethnicities, and religions, the United States, Europe and other key allies have done little to end ISIS’s systematic efforts to drive-out and eradicate entire religious communities from their historic and sacred homelands. The Obama Administration has repeatedly refused to defend religious freedom abroad and continues to ignore its devastating cost to those religious communities targeted by terrorists because of their religious beliefs. Read More

In April, Kirsten Powers wrote,

“What do you call it when 12 men are drowned at sea for praying to Jesus? Answer: Religious persecution. Yet, when a throng of Muslims threw a dozen Christians overboard a migrant ship traveling from Libya to Italy, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi missed the opportunity to label it as such.” [Standing next to President Obama ] “As Renzi was questioned about the incident, Obama was mute on the killings. He failed to interject any sense of outrage or even tepid concern for the targeting of Christians for their faith. If a Christian mob on a ship bound for Italy threw 12 Muslims to their death for praying to Allah, does anyone think the president would have been so disinterested? When three North Carolina Muslims were gunned down by a virulent atheist, Obama rightly spoke out against the horrifying killings. But he just can’t seem to find any passion for the mass persecution of Middle Eastern Christians or the eradication of Christianity from its birthplace.” “Religious persecution of Christians is rampant worldwide, as Pew has noted, but nowhere is it more prevalent than in the Middle East and Northern Africa, where followers of Jesus are the targets of religious cleansing.”

“Western leaders — including Obama — will be remembered for their near silence as this human rights tragedy unfolded. The president’s mumblings about the atrocities visited upon Christians (usually extracted after public outcry over his silence) are few and far between. And it will be hard to forget his lecturing of Christians at the National Prayer Breakfast about the centuries-old Crusades while Middle Eastern Christians were at that moment being harassed, driven from their homes, tortured and murdered for their faith. In April, John Boehner wrote in ‘The Obama Administration’s Abysmal Record on Protecting Christians and Defending Human Rights’,

One year ago today, President Obama signed into law a bipartisan bill creating the position of Special Envoy to Promote Religious Freedom of Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia. But one year later, this State Department position remains unfilled. President Obama has still not found the time to nominate someone for the role. What’s taking so long? This isn’t the first time his administration has dragged its feet when it comes to protecting Christians and defending human rights and religious freedom around the world. For this White House, it simply isn’t a priority – despite the severity of the crisis. Read more

Michael Synder shared via The Washington Standard that Christians are being systematically purged from the U.S. military.

If you are a Bible-believing Christian, there is no place for you in Barack Obama’s version of the U.S. military. Christian service members all over the nation are being disciplined for reading their Bibles, talking about their faith publicly and encouraging others to live a moral lifestyle. And just saying the name of “Jesus” at the wrong place or the wrong time while serving in the military is enough to spark a national controversy.

We live at a time when political correctness in America is wildly out of control, and thanks to Obama the U.S. military has become one of the most politically correct institutions in our society. Things have gotten so bad that dozens of top officers that did not agree with Obama’s views have been forced out of the military in recent years. The U.S. military is being transformed into an overtly anti-Christian institution, and for those of us that are Christians that is a very chilling development. Read more

In an article we shared on Monday, ‘No Excuse’ For Obama Failing to Protect Victims of ISIS’ Christian Genocide, Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley believes the U.S. government needs to be doing more to help protect the hundreds of thousands of victims of the Islamic State’s “genocide” of Christians in Iraq and Syria.

Time after time, we, along with many others have written to and called the White House for action and the procurement of Pastor Saeed Abedini’s release. He’s an American citizen serving an 8 year sentence in a brutal Iranian prison for his Christian faith. During nuclear talks with Iran, in what may have been the only opportunity the U.S. had to negotiate his release, concession after concession was given as Saeed was pushed to the back burner. Explaining why Americans being held illegally by Iran were not part of the talks/deal, an excuse was given that if they had been included, even more demands would have been made by the Iranian regime. WHAT? That’s the best the U.S. could do? It’s clear to see what side ruled at that negotiating table. Pastor Saeed continues to suffer greatly. We continue to pray for his release, health, endurance and faith to overcome.

A question keeps being raised in this nation and across the globe, ‘Is America a Christian nation, or not?’

When Christians were celebrating Holy Week back on April 6, 2009, during a press conference with the president of Turkey, President Obama said, “Although as I mentioned, we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”

Together with your generous support, we can reach the goal to alleviate horrific suffering. In darkness and desperation, let us serve in love, with open arms and giving hands to provide light and hope.

Back when this nation was supposedly a Christian nation ( whatever that is ) a ship load of Jews were turned away from this country seeking sanctuary. They were fleeing Nazi Tyrant.

The President speaks out for LBGT rights and Islam rights and disdain Christians. Has anything really changed?

  3. Why should we be surprised.?Obama is the first President to publicly announce “America is NOT a Christian nation”. Obama has been hell bent on destroying the Christian Faith in America. Muslim murderers are killing people who call themselves “Christians”. Obama is a Muslim. His mission is through Race War, Class War and Financial War ( bankruptcy through insane spending of money we do not have) is to bring America into shame, disgrace and slavery. He only has a year or so left to finish this demolition presidency. Either he, or his handpicked Muslim ally can finish the “wrecking ball: presidency” and then establish Sharia Law to take the place of our failed Constitution, Congress, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. He certainly congratulates himself, and his Muslim allies across the world bow before Allah and give thanks for the death of Christians and ultimately the former Christian Nation called The United States of America. We will see thousands of more Christians Murdered as Martyrs by murderers masquerading as martyrs. They are serving “our” President very well.

  4. Based on his actions, not words, President Obama has abandoned Christans abroad and at home. Not just Americans, but many thousands who have been brutally murdered, plundered and raped around the world; i.e. persecuted! He holds private ‘secret’ Muslim dinners and celebrations in the WH. Yet Obama publicly scolds Christians at the annual prayer breakfast. He has attacked Christians’ good faith objections to following his health care law- including the Little Sisters of the Poor! He has attacked traditional marriage after running for office in support of DOMA. Iraqi Christians have been slaughtered literally before the world’s eyes, and chased away from their homes where they lived peacefully for nearly 2000 years. And Iraq, unlike Syria until recently, is a nation the US has been militarily involved with for 2 decades. Baghdad has the largest US Emassy in the world- for what? The US has voluntarily surrendered under Obama its privileges and responsibilities of the world’s last remaining superpower. And as such the nation willing to speak out anytime anywhere in support of basic human rights and against HR abuses around the world. His red lines mean nothing. And his selective focus on African nations while turning a blind eye to ME carnage is hideous. It is also dangerous for the rest of the world to allow such major abuses and the rise of ISIS on his watch. Can the US recover from this damage in the next decade or two? Or is this the new normal? Praying it is not the latter! But can God look the other way or ignore what the US, as a nation, now finds legal and acceptable in clear violation of His Word? There is no precedent for that in the Bible. Israel is an example to anyone willing to look at their history. Sin must be judged. True repentence and corresponding change is the only remedy.

    • I agree wholeheartedly with America Held Hostage Again! We may consider that while the Evil Religion of Islam is strutting and fretting their short hour upon the stage as Obama watches their acts of butchery and dismemberment of human Christian bodies with fiendish glee, the ONE institution that God gave us for protection against such unlawful blood lust is military and police authority (Romans 13:3-4). But the Commanding General of our Armed Forces or Police State is an avowed enemy of the very country that elected him to office. Rudy Giuliani was dead center, “Obama does not love America!” The Muslim religion has a built in clause that teaches the adherent to reward kindness with hostility. They revile with contempt and disdain for Christian Love in the face of Muslim hatred. Peter very well explains that some (not all) are “Like brute beasts that are made to be ensnared” (2 Peter 2:12).

The bottom line is pretty clear, “They strut and fret their hour upon the stage and then are heard no more”, but it is the True Christian, born of water and spirit (John 3:5) who is being tested in these days of moral darkness. Our Holy God is drawing a line between Memphis and Goshen in Egypt. He is separating those of Sacred Marriage from sodomites, those who believe in capital stewardship from loafers and government chiselers, those who believe in exnihilo creation from those who embrace the ape man theory, those who believe in life from those who murder babies, those who believe God’s word from those who believe humanism, those who believe in God blessing America from those who agree with Obama-Wright “God curse America” , those who believe in Allah from those who believe in YHVH , and those who believe in murdering those who disagree with Satan, from those who believe that the blood of Christ cleanses from all sins and there is NO OTHER way to heaven except through Christ. Yes, it is good that we are being tested. We spent a long time in the comfort zone. Now we will either speak up or deny our Lord, and this provides a good criteria for those who will inherit eternal life.

      • Well said, all of it. I was reading in Psalms yesterday and the word “saints” jumped out at me. Specifically it was, “Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.” (Ps. 30:4.) Saints is a word that religionists have hi-jacked. It actually means “called out ones” or “separated ones.” Abraham lived as a stranger on earth, looking for the city built by God. Saints today are those who have said “Yes” to God’s call, His word and His commands, and they follow a different path here on earth.

Religion and popular culure have tried to tell us a “saint” is one of two things. Either a really good person who is now dead – someone that God surely must have accepted (using our own standards) into heaven. OR a saint is a person who still lives today who constantly astonishes us by her good deeds and how friendly and helpful she is “to everyone”. We say of such people, “Oh, she’s a saint!” While she was still alive, it was common for people to say “Mother Teresa, now SHE is a saint.” In TV shows or common conversations, one might have said “Oh, I’m no Mother Teresa!” That was akin to saying “I’m no saint!”

We don’t often hear it taught biblically in churches. Consequently many people walk with their heads down, thinking “Woe is me, I hope that maybe I’ll be good enough to be in Heaven some day.” People need to hear the gospel truth what it means to be a believers in Christ. “We have been transformed and were (past tense) transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light! Hallelujah! As saints of the Most High God, we should walk in the light of this truth daily, and thank Him upon every remembrance of His holy name!

Another Bible word that’s been hi-jacked today is “martyr.” But that’s a whole other story!

      • AMEN! Well said, all of it. God bless you, brother

  5. Blessings to all of you at VOP. I have learned so much about what is going on in the world through you. Like the Kazakhstan article today. It breaks your heart to see children suffer and die. And the indignities put on refugees and captured girls as young as 8 placed into slavery in Syria, Iraq Africa, and too many other places really. But we as a Christians cannot turn our gaze away. We are the ones who must watch and warn for God. If not us, who will? The UN? Ha! Their own people in the field participate in the abuse accountable to no one! The US formerly stood tall in this area, but we have been convinced in recent years that we are nothing special. What a lie from hell. After Israel, America was surely a gift from God to the nations also. But now it’s like we are “getting what we say.” And unfortunately we are saying the wrong things! My focus lately has been on Iran, Israel and the ME generally, but you cover the world!! How you are able to keep up with all of the issues amazes me. Keep going and run your race!
