Linda Renninger (PA/USA)
As I hear today, August 8,2014 about Christians fleeing to a mountaintop in Iraq and about Chaldean Christians being tortured for their refusal to deny Christ and reflecting on the Sudanese mother who held onto Jesus when threatened with death, I realize that things have not changed much since Calvary.
Christians have always been persecuted and always will be by the sin-filled agents of Satan. From Paul to Diedrich Bonhoeffer to Martin Luther King and countless others, you are in good company.
You are not alone in that cell. Jesus is right beside you. The prayers of your Christian family, the world over are surrounding you …your life means so much to us.
Your example inspires me.
It is heartbreaking to see atrocities taking place and escalating against the innocent in these modern times. The words of our Lord are as true today as they were the day he spoke them. We must pray without ceasing for those abused. Also remember the persecutors, they are lost and do not know the love of Christ. Pray they can be found. We need to keep our eyes focused on Christ, studying the Word and sharing the Gospel to free a dying world.
Thank you Linda for sharing your words with not only the Abedini family, but the Body of Christ. We will be praying with you and also keeping you in our prayers.
VOP Advocate Team
Tell Pastor Saeed that we understand, and we will pick up the cross and follow Christ as he has.
Join in this project to let the Abedini’s know how they have inspired or renewed your faith. Each testimony will be a source of encouragement to them and the Body of Christ. When the family is reunited, we will gather the stories to be published in a book and presented to them as an appreciation for their steadfast faith. Together, we will be able to provide a little insight into how God has worked through them to be a blessing to more than they realize. Add your testimony below. If your church has been active in praying for this persecuted family, inform them of this special mission so they too can share their thoughts and be an encouragement.
